Why Monthly Journal Sheets?

If there’s one thing I don’t like about a new year, it’s the whole “new year, new you” narrative.

Opening up a new calendar doesn’t make you a new you. You are the same wonderful you that you have always been.

What a new year does, though, is to provide the idea of a fresh start. A chance for our minds to reset and to see possibilities that might have been hidden.

It also provides a beautiful opportunity to dream. To look inward and decide what you really want, and what is truly important to you.

And if you know those things, you can fill your life with them every day.

Map My Month

But instead of just getting into that mindset on January 1 and then letting it fade a few weeks later, these Map My Month pages are like a monthly fresh start.

Think of it as a way to keep that feeling revived throughout the year.

Each month, on the 1st, I create and share a free downloadable guided worksheet. (You can download it at the end of the post.)

The monthly prompts will be the same, but we’ll focus on a different prompt each month and really dive deep on one of them. It’s a way to look at each question in a new way, and perhaps discover something you didn’t realize about yourself.

I’m so excited to see how our responses shift and change over the course of the year.

February’s Map My Month Focus: Your Mantra

Last month we focused on your one word. A single word to guide and shape your thoughts and actions. Did it help you? Did you return to that word when you needed it?

This month, when you create your word for February, know that at the end of your worksheet you’ll use that word to inspire a mantra.

If you want to know more about mantras, you can check out this post on positive affirmations. Affirmations or mantras are a sneaky but powerful way for us to retrain our brains!

When a negative thought pattern disrupts your day, you can return to your mantra to turn your thoughts in a new direction.

Having an affirmation or a mantra in your back pocket is a simple way to create strength and purpose for yourself. So as you create your mantra this month, let it be informed by the word you choose, and by what you feel you need to hear.

Here’s what to do next. Get yourself into a mindset that’s open, peaceful, and ready for possibility. Go through the rest of the prompts on the worksheet, using as much time as you need.

If you plan on participating in Map My Month each month, I suggest you get a binder or a folder to keep all of your worksheets in one place. You can look back at your progress and reference past months’ Maps to see how your year is progressing.

You could even add it to your Intention Blueprints binder if you did those last year!
