Renovation Update // We Have Walls!

Home remodel

We are in the stage of our remodel where every time someone comes to work on the house, something really exciting happens. One day it’s cabinets getting installed, one day it’s grout on the tile, one day it’s countertops. It’s so encouraging to see all of the finishings start to come together! So here’s where we are.

Kid/Guest Bathroom The tile is installed and it’s GUH-ORGEOUS. We did a vertical white subway in the shower, an oversized gray on the floor, and the most magical mermaid tile from Fireclay Tile on the walls. (It’s the Ogee Drop in Glacier Bay, if you’re wondering, but more on that later! Can’t give away all our secrets just yet.) Cabinets are in, and all of the new storage space is blowing my mind. We also found the perfect remnant from our countertop guys so we got the quartz counter for a total steal. Still to come in this bathroom: lighting, a few DIY shelves, a fun mirror project, and cabinet pulls. Unfortunately we ran into a snag with the sink faucet so I think we’re going to have to switch that out. More on that after it’s done because just thinking about it gives me a headache.

Master Bathroom Drywall went in here, so we’re waiting on texture for the walls and then we can proceed with tile. I cannot WAIT for you to see the floor tile in this room. We’re also debating on cabinetry vs. a vintage armoire for storage in this room. I love the idea of a great piece of furniture but that involves a long hunt sometimes and I just want it to be finished already. Anybody have any great sources for armoires or tall chests with a midcentury vibe?

Master Bedroom Waiting on texture here as well! The walls being up really help get a feel for the space, and I love how airy and bright it feels in the master. I’m already planning a few DIYs for this room — a cushion for the window seat, some art, and a barn door for the closet. We’re also teaming up on something special with Wayfair that I can’t wait to show you. It’s gonna be gooooood.

Outside The roof is done and it’s amazing how it looks like it’s always been part of the house. It blends in perfectly, and I’m glad. It’s always a little weird when you can look at a house and see the extension from a remodel. The exterior walls are waiting for stucco, which I think happens in the next few days. Then we wait for the stucco to settle forEVER before we paint, to avoid cracking.

So that’s where we are! Looks like our hopeful end date of November 1 isn’t quite going to happen. But I’m thinking it might not be too long after that. Fingers crossed! xoxo

P.S. Compare with our last update!
