How to Throw an Easy and Beautiful Shower

|

It’s no secret that I’m way past the point in my life where people are throwing me showers! But being the party lover that I am, I just can’t resist a good celebration. So I teamed up with my pals at Michaels to try out some of the new Martha Stewart Celebrations collection, and oh my gosh I had a crazy good time putting this all together. And if you ask me, this is how you can throw an easy and beautiful shower for a friend, with zero stress!

I’m loving the new Martha collections because they take all of the guesswork and footwork out of putting together an event like a wedding shower. Everything you need is literally all in one place — no, one aisle at Michaels. I’ve thrown my fair share of wedding showers in my day, and what I remember most is running around all over town to get everything I needed. But these collections (there are a few, this happens to be the Gold collection) are packed with everything you could possibly want. Serveware, dishes, backdrops, decor, favors, cups, they’ve got it all. So if you’re trying to create a really beautiful, Pinterest-worthy shower but don’t want to kill yourself making it happen, this is the way to go.

There are a few key components that I think really pull all of the pieces together and make for a really lovely celebration. Read on for our favorite tips on how to use the Martha Gold collection!

Focus on the Backdrop

There’s just something about walking into a room and seeing a really amazing backdrop! It creates a focal point for the shower, and makes everything feel elevated and a little special. Not to mention, it can serve multiple purposes! You can put a backdrop behind a bar station or a candy table, behind a dining area, or even leave the space in front of it open and use it as a photo backdrop. I’m a big fan of pegboard these days, so we used various pieces from the Gold collection and attached them to the backdrop with wire. Everything was fair game so we layered garlands, tassels, fans, and more to create a gold explosion.

Layer the Table

I love setting a table with lots of fun details for guests to discover, especially at a shower. Use plates in various patterns and layer them at each setting. Add a handwritten place card for a personal touch. The Gold collection even has a gold foiled table runner, which we ran down the center of our table setting to pull it all together. A little sprinkle of confetti, some larger serving plates, and some three-dimensional decor from the collection finished off the table.

It’s in the Details

Some of the extra from the collection are perfect for adding visual interest and surprise. Add little flags to patterned straws in your guests’ cocktails. The confetti tubes are so fun, and would make amazing photobooth props! And the balloons floating around the room add height and a sense of fun! I love that the large round balloons come with a tassel kit so that you can add a little fringe to the balloon tie. It’s details like these that make the collection so fantastic, and so easy to use.
