Happy Friday, friends! Hope you all have a super festive weekend in store. I’m loving this holiday season so far. Henry is finally old enough to understand concepts like the nativity, Santa, gift giving, advent calendars and all that Christmas-y jazz. I’m just loving it. He’s helping me wrap gifts and drop off donations and it’s just wonderful. We’ve also been doing our Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar, and he’s really getting into it. It’s been a cool opportunity to teach about giving and being kind just for kindness’ sake. And actually it’s made me realize that sometimes I don’t quite know how to explain all that clearly. So I’ve been working on how to get across to him in three-year-old terms things like giving to less fortunate people. Explaining that some kids don’t even have a place to live is a heavy concept to boil down for a little kid, but we’re working on broad strokes and I can see it taking shape in his mind.
If it sounds like something you’d like to do with your family, it’s definitely not too late! Today is Day 7 of the advent calendar, so just print it out and start there. Or pick a few random days and do them throughout the remainder of the month. There’s no wrong way to spread kindness, especially at Christmas. And it’s never, ever too late. 🙂
Have a beautiful weekend! xoxo
