How many bottles of wine have you taken to a neighbor in your life? I can’t even tally mine. Sometimes it just feels like my neighborhood trades wine bottles back and forth whenever we visit each other’s homes! Ha!
That being said, I love to make my neighbors feel special. We live in a place where the people near us truly care about each other, and it makes our days just feel good.
Just yesterday, one of our neighbors was delivering cookies to the kids in distance learning to encourage them.
At the end of the last school year, another neighbor made yard signs for every kid on the street, congratulating and welcoming them to the next grade.
And a couple of weeks ago, my niece (who lives around the corner) started the “We Love Our Neighbors” club with her friend.
Yeah. It’s like that.

Ways to CARE FOR Your Neighbors
So because we have all of these incredible neighbors, we’re always trying to find ways to pay those kindnesses forward. And yes, a bottle of wine is great. (It’s even better if you check out our tutorial below on how to make it extra special.) But I wanted to share a list of a few other ways our neighborhood shows it cares.
- offer to water plants or get mail for a neighbor going of town
- drop off extra vegetables from your garden
- leave happy chalk messages up and down the street
- have your kids draw art and deliver to a neighbor’s door
- rake a few extra leaves from a neighbor’s lawn
- drop off a small neighbor gift
We often find that it’s the small kindnesses that matter the most, like when our neighbors just text to check in or stop by for a front yard chat.
