I love Valentine’s Day and I’m not sorry about it! I know all of the cupids and the hearts and the love is just too much for some folks, but it’s just right for my schmaltzy heart. And the perfect Valentine’s Day gift? Chocolate, obviously. Don’t mess with a good thing, right? But if you want to go above and beyond for your Valentine, how about putting the chocolates in some fun DIY packaging? If that’s up your alley, here are a few fun DIY gift wrap ideas for Valentine’s Day candy, so you can give something sweet to all of your friends and family.
DIY Gift Wrap Ideas for Valentine’s Day Candy
Roll it Up
Take an empty paper towel roll and cut it in half. Around the outside, glue crepe paper or tissue paper so that it wraps all the way around and there’s about 2″ of excess on either end. Tie one end off with baker’s twine. Insert your candy or trinkets into the tube from the other end, and then tie that end as well. Leave the little sweet-filled roll for your sweetheart to find! You could also make a bunch of these for class Valentines.
Drawstring Bags
Snag some canvas or muslin drawstring baggies from your local craft store. Pick some craft paints in a Valentine-y palette and paint tiny brushstrokes in a pattern on the bag. Let the paint dry completely and fill up with chocolates or candy! These would be great Valentines for teachers, bus drivers, or mail delivery people.
Cupid’s Arrow Box
You can find these little heart boxes at most craft stores right now! Use craft paint to paint the box in one or two Valentine shades. Take a paper straw and cut it into pieces to make a little arrow. Use a glue gun to glue the arrow pieces together, then to the box. Fill the box with some padding and pop your candies inside. Who wouldn’t love this one?
Make a Love Mailbox
Score yourself some of these cute little mailboxes in the Target dollar aisle. Use craft paint to paint a message on the front of the box — I love the simple XO. Fill with some crinkle shreds or other padding and add a little gift or some candy inside. This is a great one to give to kids! They love popping it open to see what’s inside.
Washi Tape and Glassine Baggies
This one is great because you can make a whole bunch of them quickly and easily! Add some washi tape stripes to a glassine baggie. On a mini clothespin, draw a little Cupid’s arrow with a pen or paint it on with a tiny paintbrush. Fill the baggie with candy and use the clothespin to clamp it closed. So sweet!
So! Who’s your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day? I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with one of these sweet DIY gift wrap ideas for Valentine’s Day candy — better get stocked up on some sweets soon! xoxo
