Comin’ atcha today with a DIY for anyone who needs a little extra oomph! I’ve been working so hard lately on a healthy lifestyle, and I thought I could use some inspiration to really own all of my choices. So the Own It Tee was born! It’s a super simple appliqué process that even a novice DIYer can do. Let’s rock it out!
Materials
- plain t-shirt
- colored fabric
- iron-on fabric fusing
- iron
- scissors
Make Time: 30 Minutes
Step 1: Cut out your letters. We did ours freehand because I like the natural vibe!
Step 2: Cut pieces of your iron-on fabric fusing to fit behind each of the letters.
Step 3: Carefully place the letters on your shirt with the fabric fusing behind them, being sure it doesn’t peek out over the edge of the letter. Press down firmly with a hot iron for about 10 seconds on each area. If the letters pull up, press for a few more seconds with the iron.
That’s it! Wear it in good health. And speaking of which, I’m so thankful to be on this journey toward a more fit version of myself. I’m feeling so strong and, I dunno, energetic? I mean, I’m always kind of “mom tired,” but I know I wouldn’t have half the energy I do without working out and making good eating choices. A go-to snack for me lately has actually been a serving of cereal during the middle of the day. Special K Red Berries has been a favorite forever, and these days I have some in the afternoon to keep me going. It has got lots of fiber, folic acid, and Vitamin D — which makes it perfect for women. The crunchy flakes and strawberries are just the perfect combo for a snack.
How are you feeling these days? Do you feel like you own your food or like it owns you? It’s something I’ve struggled with for a long time, and I know it’s no easy feat to feel in control. But every step is one step closer to that healthy, happy version of ourselves. Wanna be fitness pals?! 😉 xoxo

Love this project! And I love Special K red berries – it’s one of my favorite cereals. 🙂
Would you mind sharing where you got the t-shirt you used? I love the style.
Hi Abby! It’s from Target.
Thanks! I like it much better than a plain tee. 😉
Own it! I will!
