DIY Floral Bike Basket
I am jumping for joy to finally share this one with you! When these dreamy peonies came from Flower Muse in the mail I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Remember our floral bike handlebars last year? Well, if you’re more a basket type of gal, this project might be right up your alley! I’m just dead over it. It’s so dreamy. And if you happen to be going to a music festival or something equally fun, how rad would this be to get around the place?! Pretty sure you’d be the belle of the ball.
Also, I’m so happy to say that this is our first post in another series featuring some insanely beautiful blooms from Trader Joes! And now, without further ado… Let’s make some bouqs!
Materials
- your bike with a basket
- large, ruffly florals like peonies or garden roses
- extra greenery for filler
- floral wire
- scissors
Make Time: 15 Minutes
Step 1: Grab a large flower, trim away the greenery from the stem, and cut the stem off at about 4 inches. Cut a piece of floral wire to about 7 inches. Hold the bloom over your basket and use the wire to affix the flower firmly, weaving it through and around the basket wires. Repeat this process with large blooms across the basket, working in a diagonal.
Step 2: Once your larger florals are firmly affixed, insert a few smaller blooms (we used ranunculus and anemones). Wedge them in between the larger florals and affix with more wire if necessary.
Step 3: Fill in any blank spots with some greenery and you’re all set!
I love it I LOVE IT! And the coolest part is that the basket is still functional because all of the florals are on the outside. So fill your basket with all your goodies and ride this baby around town. We rode downtown to take some photos with the flowers on the bike and it was quite the topic of conversation with the people we passed, lemme tell ya. It’s not every day you get to see some pretty fresh flowers riding around town! xoxo
