Rolling into the new year with the final room reveal of our remodel! The master bedroom is a total dream. I’m so excited to share the details and finally the photos of the new space.

When we started planning the room, we knew we wanted it to feel bright, airy, and spacious. So right off the bat we planned lots of windows (which tends to be a trend around these parts…). Now, I was never a girl who daydreamed about her wedding or her future husband or any of that stuff. But what I did daydream about was a window seat and a fireplace in my bedroom one day. For reals. I always knew that if I was going to build a new room, those would be my top priorities. And I still kind of can’t believe that we figured out a way to get them both incorporated into the room!

The window seat isn’t quite done — I want to make a cushion for it but that’s going to be a whole big project and I want to take my time there. So for now we have some cute throw pillows holding the space (this one, this one, and this one). But those drawers underneath? Extra storage galore, guys. And the built-in shelves make for lots of extra display space for our treasures. The fireplace is from Kozy Heat and it’s awesome. It’s just a small, simple unit but it’s such a dream to just turn on the fire in the morning or while we’re winding down at night. It has a remote and a sleep timer and all of these awesome features that make me never want to leave the room. I like to plop down in that yellow chair with my laptop in front of the fire and work here sometimes while I look out that big window at the backyard. Living the dream. Not joking at all. 🙂

We finally upgraded to a king bed and why didn’t we do that sooner?! Our friends at Wayfair graciously provided a few new things for the room, new bed and mattress included. The mattress is one I would highly recommend — it’s the new Wayfair mattress line, Nora. It’s a memory foam mattress, which I’ve never had before, but I’m sleeping so well on it. It’s one of those that comes all vacuum packed, rolled up in a box. You unroll it and it expands over a couple of days and then it’s all ready. It’s plush and cool to the touch, and the mattress cover has this delicious silky feel that makes a great base underneath your bedding. We got a low profile box spring to go underneath it so our bed would be a little lower — we’ve had a super tall bed for a long time and I was kind of tired of it. But if you’re looking for a new mattress and have any questions, drop one in the comments! I’m a major fan of this bad boy. Even Maggie wanted in on the action when we were setting it up.

We finished off the bed with all white bedding (sheets, down comforter, linen duvet), a fun throw, and some cute little his and hers nightstands.

Side note: I was just editing photos for this post and saw the baby handprints all over the mirror! For about two seconds I considered reshooting but then I figured… nah, that’s life. Thanks, Maggie. 😉

A couple of other fun features we added to the room? Those exposed beams and the pink barn door on the new closet! The exposed beams are actually a faux wood finish — we wanted the look of beams but not the insane cost. So we found a faux white oak veneer that (I swear!) looks and feels exactly like the white oak on our living room fireplace mantel. It was a really cost-effective solution. And the barn door was Ryan’s idea! He’s gotten so good at home and remodeling stuff. He thought it might be smart to save the space of a swinging door, and that it could be a nice visual impact as well. And when I asked if I could paint it pink he was all over it, which makes him double cool. The door is from Home Depot and the gold hardware is from Walmart — another super cost-effective addition.

To finish everything off, we added some new and old favorite pieces of decor around the room. Some of my artwork is mixed in with a few new pieces as well, like that adorable alpaca portrait. See below for sources on some of the decorative pieces. Hope you love the new room as much as we love being in it! xoxo

Round gold mirror. Tall white vase. Short white vase. Three-piece vase set. Glass balloon vase. Gold mirrored trays. Brushed gold box. Swiss cross box.
