I. Am. SO EXCITED TO SHOW YOU THIS! I wasn’t sure I was gonna dig all these colors for Halloween but I am so in love with this DIY colorful Halloween wreath it’s not even funny. Once you decide to just jump in and go for the color, this rainbow-hued beauty comes together in a snap.

It’s a very fun alternative if you’re not into the usual black-orange-purple Halloween situation. I also love that it has a modern and simple look, so that the colors really pop. It looks particularly awesome on a front door.

How to Make a Colorful Halloween WReath

Make Time: 1 Hour (plus paint drying time)

  1. Decide on your colors. I used paint colors we had on hand: Design Master Colortool in Pink Glow and Coral, and Krylon in Sea Glass, Ballet Slipper, Sun Yellow, and Aqua.
  2. Paint an equal number of pumpkins in each of your colors. Allow to thoroughly dry. You may need to go back with a couple extra coats for touchups. We did one coat on the top, one on the bottom, and one touchup coat.
  3. Cut out arched strips of felt and glue them onto your wreath form with the glue gun to create a base for the pumpkins.
  4. Lay out the pumpkins around the Halloween wreath to get a general idea of how many you can fit and how full you’d like it to be. Start by glueing on the larger pieces all the way around. Fill in with medium-sized pumpkins and finish by adding the smallest pieces where you need some extra filler.

Display tips for a Halloween Wreath

Ours often hangs on our front door, but this beauty would add some fun and color in so many places! Think over a mantel, leaning on the surface of a sideboard or credenza, on the front of a bookcase, and more.

Also, if you need a way to hang or display your wreath that won’t damage your walls, I swear by Command Hooks. This one is sturdy enough to hold the weight of the wreath and won’t damage walls or paint when you remove it.

love love love this wreath, and I love how it looks on our colorful front door. But I guess I also love it on a white wall so it really pops. I think maybe you can’t go wrong!

So if the traditional orange-and-black Halloween decor isn’t doing it for you, this might be right up your alley.

    1. Ya know, I was actually surprised at my local Michaels to find their pumpkin supply a little low this year too! I wonder if they stocked less merch, or maybe people just bought really early.

    1. Hi! You can see the felt covering the wreath in one of the process photos. Basically cut two strips of felt in the shape of rainbows, large enough to cover your wreath form. One strip covers one half of the circle of the wreath form and the other strip covers the second half. Does that make sense?
