In two months our baby girl is going to be a one-year-old! She’s just loving life these days, and is pretty much always happy to be right where she is. Most people comment on how easy going or chill she is — and they’re not wrong. But she’s also got this totally playful, crazy side that comes out when she’s around the people that she loves. She’s a chatterbox at home and always tries to tell you what’s what. As for actual words, she says Mama, Dada, dog, fan, food, and Papa. She also has this little word that sounds like “dat!” for when she means to say yes, or there, or something affirmative. It’s insanely cute.
She’s blossoming in the movement department, too — she’s scooting, pulling up, and cruising. She also does this little trick to test her own balance where she’ll be standing and hanging onto something and let go, putting her hands in the air for a second or two. Ryan keeps swearing she’s going to skip crawling entirely and go straight to walking. I’m not sure. But what I do know is that this girl is so very different from our boy, and it’s amazing to see her grow into her own person. She doesn’t love books as much as Henry did but loves music much more. She’s not as rambunctious but is much more thoughtful. It’s so interesting.
She’s a snuggler, which melts my heart. She’ll put her head on your shoulder and squeeze the skin on your arms and make these little cooing noises that just kill me. Maggie’s got a special heart, that’s for sure.
