Who will you be clinking glasses with this Valentine’s Day? Whether it’s a sweetheart or an awesome friend, you should be clinking in style. Pour your bubbly into these little gold polka dot champagne glasses and suddenly everything’s just a bit more fancy. And best of all? I scored these glasses at the dollar store. Boom.
Materials
- plain champagne glasses
- liquid gilding paint —Â this one’s my fave
- small wooden dowel
- optional: nail polish remover and cotton swabs
Make Time: 20 Minutes
Start with a clean and dry surface on the outside of the glasses. Dip the end of the wooden dowel into the liquid gilding. Be careful not to leave too much excess paint on the dowel, as it will slide around on the glass and ruin the shape of the polka dots. Gently press the end of the dowel onto the glass, ensuring that paint is evenly applied.
Continue in this manner, making the dots in a pattern that you like. I wanted it heavier on the bottom and lighter on the top. Whatever you decide to do, be sure to leave the very top of the glass unpainted, as you don’t want the paint in the area where you’ll be drinking.
I found it best to do one section of the glass and let it dry a bit before moving on to the next section. That way, you ensure that the paint doesn’t run as you rotate the glass. In a pinch, if your paint runs, you can clean it up quickly with nail polish remover and a cotton swab. Just be sure you get it while it’s still wet.
Allow the paint to dry for a few hours and clink away! Â (Just FYI, you should probably always hand wash these.) I’m loving the jazzed-up version of a dollar store find. You guys know you could put a gold polka dot on just about anything and it would tickle me pink. Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers! xoxo

Very cute (and quite classy I might add)! Would you use these glasses year-round? They look pretty versatile.
So cute Chelsea. The polka dots look like gold bubbles…which is kind of perfect for champagne glasses.
Great idea! I love how they turned out!

I love these so much! Perfect excuse to buy champagne glasses (somehow I don’t own any!) and maybe some new wine glasses too.
I absolutely adore these! I recently made some gold polka dot mugs using a sharpie, and I think this might be next on my list. It’s only a matter of time before all of my drinkware is covered in gold polka dots (and I see nothing wrong with that.)
Yes. My new gold bar cart definitely needs a couple of these. How did you know?
Call it blogger’s intuition. 😉
