Hey kittens! I thought I’d hit you up today with a simple little project you can put together in about 10 minutes. We are always using clothespins in our house for all kinds of stuff — chip clips, refrigerator clips, holding together random stacks of stuff. But I’m not really into the natural wood color these days, so I whipped out some paints and went to town. These will just take you a sec but they look pretty cool when you’re all finished.
Materials
- plain clothespins
- washi tape
- craft paint
- paintbrush
Make Time: 10 Minutes (Plus Drying Time)
You guys are brilliant so I’m pretty sure you can figure this one out pretty easily. But just in case, here are the few simple steps. First, paint the front of your clothespin one solid color. Let it dry.
Next, put a small strip of washi tape on the clothespin at a diagonal. Paint over the tape and out to the end of the clothespin.
Remove the tape while the second color of paint is still wet. Allow the pin to dry and clip it on everything in sight.
A few of these guys are currently proudly holding our chip bags closed! I’ve also got about a zillion stacks of photos/scraps of paper/ticket stubs/ephemera in my desk drawers that I’m starting to organize and these little clips have been lifesavers. Go make a bunch of ’em! xoxo
I made glitter mini clothespins a few years back to hold up up photos/receipts/stamps/etc on my cork board in office (pinned ribbon to the board then pin things to the ribbon) and hot glued push pins to the backs of regular sized ones for cork boards — LOVE “fancy” clothespins for classing up the most ordinary of life’s mess.
Such a cute idea! I did something similar with clothespins but I added glitter.
I have a string with clothespins hanging over my desk and this would be the perfect project to make them snazzy!
