A Skill I Wish I Had

|

Every Little Thing is Gonna Be Alright

Are there any skills that you just pine for? I am good at some things, okay at others, but I just wish and wish and wish I was great at hand lettering. I think it’s so cool. To be able to see a font or a type in your head and just… make it come out of your hands. It’s incredible! And hands down, my lettering goddess is Ann Shen. (See a couple of her works below!) She’s just magic. There’s something so satisfying about some really beautiful hand lettered type, so just to inspire you, here are a few of my favorites. xoxo

P.S. Anybody know any great spots online for beginners in hand lettering? Maybe I should just dive in and try. 🙂

  1. You should check out Holly Anna Calligraphy. She’s local to you. I took one of her classes last year and really enjoyed myself.

  2. I love hand-lettering! I’ve had people tell me I should sell mine, but I’m not as confident in myself as they are. 😉 I’d suggest practicing by starting off with a pic of someone’s lettering that you like, and copying it. I find it helps me learn to pay attention to certain things, and just helps me feel the motion with my hand. Eventually you’ll develop into your own style as you go along. 🙂

  3. I wish, I wish, I wish I could play the piano by ear. I want to sit down anytime I feel like it and play beautiful music. I want to play the music I hear in my head, and can’t get out. I wish, I wish, I wish.
