Renovation Update

Kitchen Under Construction

We are racing a baby clock, people! If Baby Girl cooks as long as she’s supposed to, she’ll be here in a little over 5 weeks. And we are thisclose to finishing the renovation, relatively speaking (since we started the day after Christmas of 2015). If all goes well, we’ll be wrapped up in about a week or two — and I’m hoping down to my toes that it all does go well.

What’s left? We need to install the kitchen countertops and appliances, touch up a few spots with paint, let the new hardwood floors cure, and get our fireplace stone & mantle installed. I know it sounds like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things it’s just a  tiny little list at this point. And if that all happens over the next couple of weeks and baby girl stays put until around her due date, that means we’ll have a few weeks to clean the house and just prepare for her arrival. Cross every finger you have for us!

I mostly can’t believe that we’re approaching the end, because this has been going on for 8 long months at this point. Henry thinks that our contractor is part of the family. (And I actually think that when he’s not coming around every day any more, the poor kid is going to be heartbroken.) I’ll just be so, so glad to have our house put back together, with floors that don’t have drywall dust on them and a couch that isn’t covered in plastic in the corner. I can’t believe it’s actually going to happen soon. Countdown is on, y’all. xoxo

  1. im laughing at the Henry part because i know exactly how the kid feels.
we had a guy come to our house and do our back wall, paint our house and build us a porch.
i was so sad and heartbroken the first day i got home from work and he wasnt there.
    and im 28….so….lol

but here’s some prayers that it all gets done in time for baby lovely. <3

    1. Thank you! It’s definitely still a work in progress, but I can’t wait to share the end result. Hope your kitchen daydreams become a reality one day soon! ?

  2. Every finger and toe crossed! How are you that pregnant with no couch to pass out on?? Our kitchen reno is being held up by countertop place, but at least the drywall dust has been mostly cleaned up…

    1. THANK YOU! seriously, means so much! Don’t you always feel like it’s something?! Hope you get your countertops soon and that they’re perfect! ?

  3. This looks great. This is my favorite step of any kitchen renovation, especially the appliance installation as you know you’re nearly done by that part. I hope this new kitchen has brought you many smiles since it was finished!

  4. The air conditioner air filter provides high-quality cleaning and cooling of the air in the living space due to the circulation of air flows. The part is designed to clean the air entering the indoor unit of the air conditioner from dust and foreign particles. If the filter is dirty, there is a possibility of breakdown of the entire system, which can happen at the most inopportune moment – in the middle of summer.
