Easy Five Minute Holiday Hairstyle
I hope you came here today looking for too much personal information about my hair, because it’s about to come atcha. This mane of mine has been a wild ride for the last couple of years and I blame it all on my adorable son. For starters, everybody told me that I would have amazing hair when I was pregnant. Lies. All lies. My hair just plain old stopped growing. Like, it was stunted for some reason. Then I had the kid and it started getting longer again, but it was kind of brittle, and half of it also fell out. I could see scalp in the mirror and it was horrifying. More recently, it’s started growing back in again in the form of tiny baby wisps all over, especially at my forehead. So it’s like I have an extra set of super short baby bangs underneath my real bangs. It’s adorable, let me tell ya.
All of this is to say that I’ve been need of a major haircare overhaul, and I think I found it. My baby bangs are behaving and my hair is getting back to it’s fuller, healthier, more agreeable self. It’s been a ton of trial and error but I recently hit on the Living Proof line and for really reals it’s been a lifesaver. I’m not fretting any more about my hair breaking off, or about little wispies because they’re just kind of magically improving. It’s awesome.
And also, it’s holiday hair season! I don’t really claim to be any sort of a hairstyle expert, but this 5 minute trick is my no-fail for pretty party hair. You can do it yourself without having to book an appointment for a blowout or anything fancy like that.
Step 1: Start with dry hair and your favorite styling products. After I washed, I used a little thickening mousse at the roots and this styling treatment. I just rough-dried my hair in the morning and put it in a side part all day until I was ready to style it.
Step 2: Use a small-barrel curling iron (I used 1 inch) to create ringlets all around your head. Be sure to curl the ends of your hair as well. Position the curling iron so that the hair curls in toward your face.
Step 3: Spritz a light mist of your favorite flexible hairspray. This one is amazing.
Step 4: Gently brush out the curls into soft, vintage-looking waves.
Step 5: Tuck one side behind your ear. Add some bling for extra festivity!
That’s it. Start to finish, it takes me five minutes; if your hair is long or super thick it might take a few minutes longer. But it’s pretty much a guaranteed win for pretty party hair! If you’re looking for the right styling products to make it work on your hair type, give Living Proof’s product selector tool a try. You can enter your specific needs and it’ll let you know what will work best for you. Those smarties! Now go get yourself all jazzed up for a holiday shindig — and have an extra eggnog for me. xoxo

Did you take Biotin while pregnant? I’m already all loaded up on pre natal vitamins because we’re trying for kiddos. My hair is naturally thin! I need all I can get. 🙂
Boy. When I think of how long it used to take us to get our hair ready for pretty!
I love this style! I’m no great shakes at doing my hair (even though I’m a hairdresser’s daughter!) but I think I’ll give this a whirl. Glad your hair is getting back to its healthy self!
