Sometimes inspiration strikes in the most unlikely of places. This idea was born while eating sandwiches at Jimmy John’s. (By the way, have you ever had Jimmy John’s? Why is it so good?!) This location had a large table that was printed with a big quote all over the top of it and I started thinking how cool it would be if I could make that myself. So we pondered it for a while and figured out a pretty simple way to DIY it, and here we are! This DIY vinyl typography table runner would be so fun at a Mother’s Day brunch (or any brunch, really!), and you can leave it on your table for as long as you like. The vinyl peels right off when you’re done and the table stays nice and clean. Here’s how we made it!

Materials

Make Time: 1 Hour

Step 1: We created our typography in the Cricut Design Space, but you can also do it in Photoshop. We used Century Gothic Bold for a font. Design your words to be about 11″ wide, resizing each line to the same width. This will result in varying font sizes.

Step 2: Cut out your lettering from the vinyl using the Cricut machine.

Step 3: If you like, punch some confetti from the vinyl with the circle hole punch.

Step 4: Start applying the vinyl letters to the table. Find the center of your table and center your words accordingly. For the first word, I started with the center letter and worked my way outward to be sure it was centered. For the next words, start with the outside letters and justify them with the first word. Then space all of your letters evenly. Repeat this until all of your words are applied to the table.

Step 5: If you want some polka dots sprinkled, apply the circle punches along the table where a table runner would fall. Smooth all vinyl pieces down.

Now celebrate! This project is making me want to have people over for some spring holidays! I think I’ll probably leave it up for a while. It could also be so perfect for showers, wedding receptions, and birthdays! How fun would it be to customize it for somebody special? The sky’s the limit with this one. Hope you try it! xoxo
