The holidays are over, and there’s always a bit of a letdown, right? All the parties are done, the decorations are put away, and we’re all like, “Wait, I have to go back to work?” Well, figuring you needed a little pick-me-up to get you through January, I teamed up with Chambord to give you a little mini party just #BecauseNoReason. We whipped up some fizzy raspberry cocktails and these gorgeous ombre and gold cocktail napkins, so you can invite all your BFFs over and have a Yay January party! Here’s how.
Materials
- plain white cotton cocktail napkins
- liquid fabric dye
- bowl
- hot water
- gold iron-on foil
- gold iron-on adhesive
- iron
- rubber gloves
- paintbrush
Ingredients
- Chambord
- club soda
- lime
Step 1: Pour the desired amount of dye into a bowl with hot water (more dye = a more saturated color). Thoroughly wet your cocktail napkins. Use rubber gloves to protect your skin!
Step 2: Dip one end or one side of a napkin into the dye. The longer you leave it in, the deeper and more saturated the color will be. Allow the dye to bleed into the napkin a bit, but leave some of the napkin plain white.
Step 3: Remove the napkin once it’s the desired color. Run the napkin under hot water to remove excess dye (be sure to hang the dyed end down under the water so the dye doesn’t run over the un-dyed part). Repeat and dye all of your napkins! If desired, run them through a wash cycle to be sure all excess dye is removed.
Step 4: Paint random brushstrokes on the dried napkins with your iron-on adhesive.
Step 5: Cut a square of foil and place it over all the areas with adhesive. With an iron on the hottest setting, press down very firmly on the foil for about 7 seconds (you might want to test it a few times first on a scrap of fabric!).
Step 6: Remove the excess foil and you’ve got golden brushstrokes!
Now all you need is a cocktail to put on that pretty napkin! This one’s simple as can be and totally delish. Fill a rocks glass with ice and pour in one ounce of Chambord. Fill with club soda and garnish with a lime round. Ta-daaa! Raspberry Italian Soda with a kick. Say cheers to the new year and have a ball.
So take that, January! We’re gonna party like it’s the holidays all year long. Please, as always, drink responsibly and wait to raise a glass until you’re over 21. Cheers! xoxo
