I’m so antsy, because next week we leave for our anniversary trip! We’ll be heading to NYC for a few days to visit friends, and then heading to Europe for a couple of weeks. While we’re still stateside, I thought I’d hit you with a chic little DIY for your next trip abroad — a DIY leather passport holder. My passport is a prized possession; I love to collect stamps from all over the world. So this little guy needed a cozy place to stay.

Materials

  • leather
  • fabric
  • scissors
  • sewing machine
  • clips

Make Time: 20 minutes

Start by cutting a piece of leather and a piece of fabric, both measuring 11″ x 5 1/2″.

Layer them on top of one another, wrong sides facing. Place clips in the center to hold the pieces together. Then fold the outer edges in approximately 1 1/2″ inches and clip also. (I used clips rather than pins to avoid punching holes in the leather. You may want to experiment with the right materials for your particular textiles.)

Sew a straight stitch all four sides, approximately 1/4″ from the edge.

Insert your passport and fly away! This project comes together really quickly and would be an awesome bon voyage gift for someone who’s embarking on an adventure. And on that note, keep tuning in during the next few weeks for lots more travel-themed DIYs! xoxo
