When the queen of DIY is having a bridal shower, you just gotta do a little something special to wrap her gift, am I right? I was so bummed to miss Kelly’s east coast shower, but I was so happy to have a chance to wrap up her gift in something unique (and inspired by her projects!). Kelly and her fella have a whole gold thing happening with their registry (of which I completely approve), so I thought it would be fancy to do a little hand-printed gold heart pattern on my trusty favorite kraft wrapping paper. To top it off, one of Kelly’s old projects inspired the 3-d honeycomb heart on top! Here’s how you can recreate it.
- kraft wrapping paper
- gold paint pen — I used this one!
- honeycomb paper or various shapes (I used a diamond and it worked great!)
- tape (regular and double-sided)
Make Time: 30 Minutes
Start by cutting the right amount of wrapping paper for your package. Using the gold pen, start drawing a pattern. I chose to cover it in crazy little hearts! Work your way across until the paper is covered with the gold pattern.
Wrap the gift with the paper. Then, decide on the right size for your honeycomb heart. On one side of the closed honeycomb, trace a half heart shape next to the flat edge. Cut out the heart.
Once you open the heart, you’ll see that you need to trim down the middle section of tissue paper in the honeycomb and shape the heart a bit. Trim away bit by bit until you like the shape. Then use your double-sided tape to affix the heart to the top of the gift.
Bam! A Chelsea-meets-Kelly-worthy bridal shower wrap job. You could customize this a million ways — be sure to check out Kelly’s original honeycomb gift topper tutorial too! Three cheers for Kelly and Jeff for being awesome and engaged! xoxo
