Summer is coming, and for me and my family & friends that usually means lots of get togethers! Sometimes we’re down and dirty, paper plate style, and sometimes we pull out all the stops and go fancy. For this particular celebration, Mr. Lovely and I found the perfect happy medium — Chinet’s Cut Crystal line. And on top of it, I decided to get a little snazzy and rock out a DIY. This cup chandelier looks pretty cool (in my humble opinion), but it was so simple. Check out that make time — it’s no exaggeration that it only took me 15 minutes.

Materials

  • Chinet Cut Crystal 9 oz. cups
  • glue gun
  • baker’s twine
  • scissors

Make Time: 15 Minutes

Start by using the glue gun to glue together a ring of cups. Put a line of glue on one cup and affix it to the next. When you complete the circle, glue the first and last cups together.

Once the first layer is dry, repeat with another layer on top of it. This time, glue a cup to the cup below it. Continue filling in and glue each cup to the cups surrounding it.

Two more layers will finish the chandelier — fill in these two layers in a similar manner.

Cut two lengths of baker’s twine, about 6 feet each. Insert the two pieces through the chandelier, perpendicular to each other, so that the chandelier is supported at four points. Flip it right side up, tie the ends of twine together, and hang.

After we got the chandelier hung, we set a quick and easy table using the rest of our Chinet goodies! The Cut Crystal line is really one of the prettiest disposable dining lines I’ve used. The table was so easy to put together but was really festive. (A couple of hints — use blankets or plain fabric for tablecloths and runners. It’s a snap!) We started pouring drinks to let the good times roll.

  1. OH MY! need need need. Great inspiration for throwing my best friends baby shower in July. I must incorporate gold and peachy pink!
Love the chinet, looks pretty and super convenient.

  2. How pretty! It would also make a fun and easy children’s project. And you could glue tiny colored tissue streamers to the bottom inside of some of the cups so they would hang down, or put stickers or jewels to see when looking up at the chandelier. So much fun for adults or kids!

  3. That Chinet Crystal line of dishes is good to use for taking a plate of cookies or appetizers to a party, too. You can go crazy with plastic wrap and ribbon, etc, to present it.
