Wedding Activity Book for Kids

This printable Wedding Activity Book is the perfect resource to keep kids entertained on your big day! Use it at the wedding or the reception and your guests will be so excited that you thought of their little ones. Read on to see more!

Printable Wedding Activity Book for Kids
Printable Wedding Activity Book for Kids

Here’s an idea for all of you brides and grooms to be!  Before Ryan and I got married, we realized our ceremony and reception were going to be chock full of kiddos, and we didn’t have anything fun for them to do.  So I sat right down and started drawing, and ended up with a little wedding activity book that ended up being a HUGE hit.

To this day, it’s our most downloaded item and our most popular blog post. (And we don’t even blog about wedding stuff any more!) But this printable wedding activity book for kids has helped so many brides and grooms, and I hope it helps you too.  Keep reading or just click below for the activity book.

Before you dive in, check out the rest of the details from our DIY wedding! Tons of inspiration and resources are waiting for you there.

Kids Activity Tables at a Wedding Receiption

It’s no secret that weddings and receptions can be spectacularly boring for kids. And as the adults, we want to be able to relax, enjoy the festivities, and not be constantly concerned that our little ones are going to scream during the “I do’s” or knock over the wedding cake. So the best plan of action? Keep them entertained.

My favorite weddings to attend, now that I’m a parent, are the ones who consider the kiddos that are invited. And that’s exactly what this printable wedding activity book for kids will do!

You can print and prepare these in less than an hour, and it takes minimal materials to put together a fun little pack of crayons or pencils for children to be able to color and do the activities in the book all evening long.

How to Make a Printable Wedding Activity Book for Kids

Before you follow our simple tutorial to create this printable wedding activity book for kids, please note the following!

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANY PORTION OF THIS BOOK BE DOWNLOADED AND REDISTRIBUTED. The content of the book is copyrighted intellectual property and offered solely here for personal use exclusively.

Materials

  • computer and printer
  • white copy paper, or cardstock for a thicker book
  • scissors
  • baker’s twine
  • crayons or colored pencils (or you can use these crayon packs)

Tips for printing the Book

  1. Download our printable wedding activity book for kids.
  2. To print, we recommend a test print first. The book prints best at about 90%, so once your print dialogue comes up to print, choose Print options, then under Scale, select 90% or “Fit to Page.”
  3. Note: the pages are not out of order. If you are printing at home, print out the page with the car on it first, then on the back of that same sheet, print the front cover of the booklet (ensuring that it doesn’t end up upside-down). Next, print out the page with the cake on it, and on the back of that same sheet, print out the tic-tac-toe page. Make as many double-sided copies of this as you need for all of the children who are attending your wedding or reception.

How to Put Together the Activity Books

  1. Lay the sheets on top of each other in order, so that the cover of the booklet is on the bottom. Ensure that the edges are all aligned completely. Fold the sheets in half to create your book, making a crease down the center. Use the tip of your scissors (or a hole punch) to poke two holes through the pages right on the crease, about 3 inches apart.
  2. Cut a length of baker’s twine, string it through the two holes from the inside of the book toward the outside cover, and tie in a knot or bow on the outside. If you like, you can add embellishments like tassels, pompoms, or anything you like. It’s fun to have the color of the twine correspond with your wedding colors!
  3. All you have left to do is arrange for some crayons or colored pencils! You could bundle up small packs of crayons using the same color of baker’s twine, or just leave a big container of crayons or pencils in the center of a kids’ table for them to choose from.

That’s it! Make one wedding activity book for each of the kiddos that are attending your wedding and they’ll love it. Hope you use and enjoy our printable wedding activity book for kids during your special day! xoxo

      1. This is such a great book – what skill you have! Do you know if there is a website where you can download the Liebe Erica font? I was able to get the Riot Squad font at urbanfonts.com but can’t seem to find liebe erica! Thanks so much for the great book and advice!

        1. Were you ever able to find liebe erica? I’ve been looking and am not able to find it. Also, what kind of paper did you use? I love it! Thank you so much! This book is so cute and creative!

          1. Please send me the link to download Liebe Erica font!! I am soooo happy I found this thread because I had seen this font elsewhere and ripping my hair out trying to find it! *sigh* You girls just made my day!! ♥

          2. Hi Lauren, if you read the first paragraph in the post (in bold), you’ll find a link to the site where you can purchase the font. Thank you!

    1. I have been trying several different ways to ask for this template. HELP!!! My wedding is in 21 days and I’d LOVE to have this little coloring/activity book for the kids! Can you email me the link pretty, pretty please?

      In Gratitude,

      Raen

  1. What a fantastic idea! We had so few kids at our wedding I barely thought about them but for a wedding with lots of kids this will be great! And so much more wholesome than keeping them quiet with video games!

  2. We did something similar for my sister’s wedding last year. They were a hit! The kids loved them and so did the adults!

  3. These are adorable! We have a few kids who will probably be a part of our special day too! Might steal this idea from you!
Can’t wait to see you guys! Let us know if you need anything last minute! 🙂

  4. I LOVE this idea! You’ve done an awesome job on it, and kids are so often forgotten about during long wedding days that it’s refreshing to see something so easy able to entertain them! Just gorgeous.

  8. As a mama who has taken her kiddos to a few weddings, I thank you for this idea. I always pack a little coloring book and crayons for them, but this is such a neat idea. You are so sweet to think of the little ones on YOUR special day. Thanks.

  12. This is such a great idea. I have a huge extended family, with at least 20-25 kids expected at the wedding so this is amazing and will hopefully keep them busy! Thanks so much for sharing!

  13. What a wonderful idea you had! Your book is very cute and just right to keep children occupied and still in a ‘wedding’ frame of mind. Great job! You are very talented.

  14. Hello, my name is Chelsea Rempel. I am looking for the template for this to be used at my upcoming wedding in September 2012. Could you please send me the link to [email protected]. Thanks!

  16. Such a cute book!! We are having about 20 kids! Yes, 20, at our wedding. We have come up with some great ideas to keep them occupied and I think we will definitely use this great book!

  17. I love this, what a great idea it is. I’m placing this link on my “hints for brides and grooms” section.

  18. OK just realised that the link is in your text and had I read it properly then I would have seen it straight away! Hahaha! Thanks!

  19. Thanks so much for sharing this idea and the printable. My wedding is in June but I am so excited to go ahead and make these for the kids. I am a teacher and will have most of my students at the wedding. This will give them something to do! Thanks again!!

  21. This is such a fabulous idea! Love it! I have been searching for something for the sweet little ones and this is amazing, absolutely PERFECT! How can I go in and edit, to add my own personal touches? I also printed and the color is very faint….? Please help, would love to have this at my wedding.. Thanks so much and for sharing 🙂

    1. Hi Stacey, glad you like it! As far as editing, it’s designed as a .pdf, so it’s not really meant for editing rather than perhaps adding your names to the back, as I mentioned. Also, you may want to check your print settings to get your color darker. Have fun!

  23. This is FANTASTIC!!! I have been searching dollar stores looking for things to keep the 20 or so kids that will be at our wedding occupied!!

    You are awesome!!

  24. When i saw these i just loved the idea. I was just wondering what kind of paper it is printed on in the picture. Im having a shabby chic wedding. And it looks like its on a brown coarse papar that would go with the vintage theme. Please let me know soon. Thank you.

    1. Hi Marissa,
Unfortunately, I don’t know the exact paper we chose. We did our copying at a FedEx/Kinko’s and perused their paper choices until we found one that we liked. We were able to buy it by the sheet rather than in bulk because we didn’t need that much. I’d suggest going to a copy or paper store and asking to see some samples.
      Thanks!

  25. I freaking LOVE this idea. I have been trying to come up with a way too keep all the kids coming to our wedding busy and this would be perfect can you please email me a copy of the PDF! to [email protected]
    thank you
    Sarah

    1. Hi, Thanks so much for this. It’s great! Just one thing, the print order is not the same as shown in your pictures- instead of the ring on the left and the honeymoon car on the right, the PDF has the pages in order as they would be in the book, so the page with the ring on the left has the cake on the right, which does not work for printing. Is there a way to fix this?

    This is so awesome. Thanks!

  29. This is heaven sent!! I have been stressing on what to do to keep the kids busy during the dinner. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

  30. Hi Chelsea,
This is such a wonderful idea! Can’t wait to use it for my wedding!
Unfortunately I can’t seem to print it out correctly. Everything I have tried when printing has cut off some of the letters at the sides of each page. Since it is in pdf form, I can’t figure out how to change the margins…
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    THANKS!

  31. HI tried downloading from the link you left, but it keeps making my browser crash. Is there another way to download it?
    Thanks!
    Michelle

    1. Hi Michelle! Not sure what the problem might be — seems to be working fine for me. Maybe try restarting your computer, or try downloading with a different browser program.

    1. Hi Alissa, everything seems to be working with the file. When you print, you may want to try the “scale to fit” option on your printer settings and see if that helps. Have fun!

  35. Help!!! This great idea has me scratching my head trying to find the link to download the fonts. The wedding is 2 weeks away.

    1. Hi Ann, there is no link to download the fonts. The download is solely for the booklet. The font names are Riot Squad and Liebe Erika, if you wish to purchase them. You should be able to find them with a quick Google search. Have fun!

  36. Wow! I love this idea!!! We also are having a bunch of little ones at our wedding in 3 weeks, and I just wasn’t quite sure of what I wanted to get to help entertain them. I have planned a “kids activity” table, but up to this moment, hadn’t gotten anything to put on it! You are a life-saver, I absolutely love this idea!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Best of luck to ya’ll!!!

I LOVE this idea! Is there anyway you could change it to represent a gay wedding? My partner and I are having our ceremony in September and would like to have these books printed up for all the kids attending. Is there a way to change some of the format so I could print them off?

    1. Hi Joy! Thanks so much for the request — unfortunately, the files aren’t editable at this point. I am looking at producing a fully customizable one, but that might be down the line a little bit. Thank you again, and congratulations on your engagement! I’ll keep you posted if the new one is available any time soon.

      1. Hi! This is fantastic, and I would love to use it (and totally credit you!) at my wedding. Have you been able to either come up with an editable version or an LGBT friendly one?

  44. Hi, this is so great. Thank you 🙂
There is just one problem- the pages in the PDF are not like the ones in your photos- for example, the page with the ring on the left has the cake on the right (in reading order instead of printing order) instead of the car. Is there a way to fix this?

    1. Hi Katelyn,
Thanks for your question. The pages are in the right order for printing — they come out correctly once printed and folded together. Some of the photos may be misleading, but I printed from this same PDF and put my books together accordingly. Just shuffle the pages around until they are in order. Thanks, and good luck!

    1. Hi Amber! You’re not the first one to ask! I’m actually reconfiguring some things to see if I might be able to do that. Keep an eye on the blog for it!

  45. love this idea, just told my daughter and she said let’s make them. it will keep kids occupied and not running.
    thank you,

  46. These are gorgeous. I will definitely use these at our wedding in December. I just printed out a copy to see how cute it is and wanted to ask if light card would be better to use than paper? Well done and thank you for sharing with us all 🙂

    1. The paper weight is totally up to you, Nicky! We used a slightly heavier paper with a linen feel to it, just to have a little texture. So glad you’ll be able to use it!

  75. Perfect idea, we are getting married next month and this is great for the children. What age range do you reckon its suitable for? Thanks 🙂

    1. We had kids aged from 1 to about 10 using it for different purposes — some wrote or drew pictures, some did the actual pages, and some just scribbled to keep themselves occupied. 🙂

  76. This is INCREDIBLE!! I do wish it was in the correct order. I have to print them one sided, re-arrange, and then print the copies double sided which is causing a lot of pixelation and dots all over/around the adorable images you have drawn. Is this is WORD format anywhere or just PDF?

    1. Hi Amy, it’s PDF only. And I’ve printed it myself many times, so I’ve ensured that it’s in the correct sequence. It’s in that order for double-sided printing purposes, so just be sure that the double-sides are being printed properly and it should all line up. Thanks!

  82. Hi Chelsea,
I am Avery Ocumen from the Philippines. I’m the Marketing Manager of Amorita Resort, a boutique hotel in Panglao Island Bohol in the Philippines.

I’m writing because I chanced upon your coloring book: i do, i do! on Pinterest and was very interested to produce it for children in the resort. I very much understand how kids get restless during wedding celebrations/receptions. And I actually pity the little ones – how uncomfortable they get in their cute little suits and gowns. I would like to produce copies of your coloring book to be given away to kids during weddings celebrations at our resort. I have no intention of selling it, really. I just want the kids to enjoy themselves as much as the adults around them are enjoying themselves. 🙂

I hope you don’t mind. Please shoot me an email if there’s anything else you wish to discuss. I would be very happy to hear from you!

PS: I soo enjoy your site. 😀 I am very envious you have all the time in the world to do all that!

  97. Is anyone else having problems printing? I can’t seem to get the pictures the right way up? I do I do is facing up and the car is facing the other way?

    Great booklet for kids 🙂

  106. Leanne, my daughter is getting married September 7, 2013. This is such a cute idea for the children that will be attending. Would you be so kind as to share the coloring book so Stephanie can use it, too? Thank you.

Thank you so much xx

  111. Please can you send me the template asap? this is a brilliant idea for my wedding in Greece in just over 3 weeks!

  114. Hi, I really would like to use your Wedding Activity Book at my wedding next weekend. However, your links in the post above are corrupted… I even the PDF copy I thought I saved last month won’t open, I went to open it today to print and I received and error saying the file is also corrupted. Is there any way you can fix your links or even send me a copy of the pdf when you have a free moment? Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Brita! I’ve tried downloading the file from several different computers and several different browsers, and it looks like the file is fine with no corruption. A few suggestions: try clearing your cache and re-downloading, using a different web browser, or trying a different computer. Thanks so much!

      1. Thank you so much for getting back to me so soon Chelsea, It must be my computer that is on the fritz. You were correct, I was able to download the pdf from another computer. So sorry for the confusion, I guess my computer needs some serious rehab. Thank you again!

  115. Hi, I’m wondering what the chances are of getting the template or if you don’t send that a copy of the PDF with “colour” spelt that Australian/English way. I’d love to use your awesome template but I’m unsure because I don’t want to confuse the kids or teach them incorrectly with what isn’t our local spelling. Do you mind? I’d heaps appreciate it and my wedding is soon. Thanks.

    1. Hi Rochelle, thanks so much for the comment! I apologize, but I’m unable to alter the download — I get lots of requests for various alterations and specializations and I just can’t keep up with them. Hope your celebration is beautiful!

  178. I agree, Amy. I was just about to ask if there is a word file that is available so that we could change the words “bride” and “groom” to whatever fits best or just leave it out altogether. This way you don’t have to make a billion different additions, just let people do that themselves.

This is such a lovely idea! Not having children myself, I have no idea what age range these would be for… We have 8 year olds and 6 year olds at our wedding. Do you think this would be suitable for them?

    Oliva

    1. Hi Olivia! I think it would be perfect for that age range — they’d probably be able to complete the whole book. We tried to include pieces for a wide age range, from just plain coloring pages to more complicated things for older kids (like the ages you mentioned). Congrats on your upcoming wedding! xo

    Such a glorious idea!
Question, if I am printing this document from a printer that prints double-sided automatically, every second page is upside down because it has been formatted for printers where the user manually turns the page upside down and puts it back into the feeder. Can you tell me how I can print it so that all the pages are right-side up when printed on a larger, more modern printer that prints double-sided automatically?

    1. Hi Juliana!
Awesome question. It’s been quite a while since I made the file, I should probably update for both types of printers! In the meantime, I would just suggest turning off the auto double-side function on your printer and print using these instructions. I’ll try to have the other type of file uploaded before the end of August!
