A Fluffy, Fun Winter Wreath DIY

True story: The other day I made this wreath in the studio and I said out loud to Ryan, “I think I’m gonna call this our Dr. Seuss wreath.” And then he immediately replied, “Yeah. That or the Jennifer Coolidge wreath.” And I fell over dead because HOW DID HE KNOW?! It’s the perfect name. It might be an obscure reference for some of y’all but all you need to know is Jennifer Coolidge played Paulette in the Legally Blonde movie. She’s also in just about every Christopher Guest film, which are my real favorites, but definitely lesser known. And Stifler’s mom in American Pie. And also, she once wore this to a Mardi Gras parade, which is essentially the real-life outfit version of this wreath. Could you die?! I mean, Ryan Foy really nailed it with that reference.

But what are we really talking about here?! DIY, that’s what. So let’s make a Jennifer Coolidge wreath.

Materials

  • wire wreath form
  • holiday decor picks from Michaels
  • two large faux flowers

Make Time: 15 Minutes

Step 1: Gather all of your holiday decor picks! Michaels has a really great selection of picks in all colors, textures, and sizes. I like to choose the fluffy ones because the texture is fun and it fills up the wreath form quickly.

Step 2: Start wiring your picks to the wreath form. Most of the picks at Michaels are wired, so you can just wrap the stem around the wreath form until the pick is secure. Continue wrapping picks and filling in the wreath, checking every so often to be sure that you’re spreading the various picks around evenly.

Step 4: Continue wiring your picks to the wreath form until they reach around the entire ring. Fluff up anything that got squished. If there are any bald spots on the wreath, wire in another pick or adjust what’s there to cover up the hole.

That’s it! Hang up your Jennifer Coolidge and love it! Quick, give me your favorite Legally Blonde quote! And also, are you decorating for the holidays yet, or still just in the planning stage? I know lots of you come here to gather ideas before you actually go for it. Don’t forget to head to Michaels and visit Santa’s MAKE Shop! It’s where I do all my decor and supply shopping, and this year there’s so much cute stuff in all kinds of different styles. Have fun! xoxo

P.S. This woven wreath would also look awesome in some holiday colors! And here’s a wreath that you can eat. Yeah, you heard me.
