Mexico was just gorgeous. We relaxed and beached and relaxed some more — it was pretty chill. But I definitely had some favorites there, if you’re heading down Cabo way any time soon!
We stayed at the Casa Dorada and loved it. It’s in an awesome location because you can walk everywhere — flea market, beach, and marina are all right there. It’s also near some awesome restaurants on its own stretch of private beach. If you’re there on a Sunday, go to The Sand Bar for the paella special. Our other food faves were Tacos Gardenias (get the cactus one!) and Sharky’s (the chorizo tacos and tortilla soup are killer).
We combatted all of the deliciousness with a few workouts and lots of swimming. Do you work out on vacay? If you’re into it, this app is pretty awesome for workouts on the go. It generates workouts for you according to whatever equipment you have, so you can get your fitness on wherever you are!
Make sure you spend some time wandering through the flea markets and street vendor stalls. Be ready to haggle; most vendors start prices way high, knowing that you’ll try to bargain. Most of the time we settled on a price that was a little less than half of the original number. And speaking of money, if I had to do it over again I wouldn’t even change money. We exchanged our American dollar for pesos, but found that everyone quotes prices in dollars. It would have saved time, money, and confusion and we would have gotten along just fine.
Definitely plan to take a boat out to see the arch and the southernmost rocks in baja. You can catch a boat on the beach or the marina from one of the barkers advertising their service. If you take a glass bottom boat, you can see some pretty awesome sea life!
Other than that, swim, play in the sand, and get in the ocean! You already know I loved the paddleboarding, but you can also kayak, jetski, surf, skimboard, and on and on. Get in there and do it. Oh, and make sure you catch a sunrise or a sunset. Or two. xoxo
