Let me start this post by saying: this will be Henry’s 4th and Maggie’s 3rd Christmas, and never until this year have they sat on Santa’s lap. There have been a few brief encounters (some involving hiding between my legs or behind my back), but up until now Mr. Claus was just not on their radar as a Christmas activity. But that all changed when they both decided they wanted to “give Santa a hug” this year. (I know, I know, you’re like, “Where’s the giveaway?!” Keep reading, friends. This is a fun one.)
So where’s a mom to go when she has no idea how to get her kids in front of Santa when they finally ask? The mall, y’all! I knew our local Vintage Faire Mall had this whole Santa HQ thing, and so we teamed with them to check it out. But oh my gosh it’s wayyyyy more exciting than the old standard Santa visits I experienced back in the day. This is a straight-up, high-tech, full-on experience before you even get to Santa, which is the grand finale at the end. And here’s the fun news: we’re giving away a Santa visit and photo package to one local winner!!! Keep reading to find out how to enter, and to see more of these kiddos in the Santa HQ wonderland (which, by the way, is presented by HGTV so you know it’s good).
When we arrived and found out there was an app that guides you through your visit, Ryan was like OH IT’S ON. So he and Henry nerded out trying to find all the hidden elves all over Santa HQ with the Elf-Ray Vision app. Give those two a piece of technology and they’re over the moon. My personal favorite? The Naughty or Nice O’Meter. I mean, look at these kids finding out that they’re (mostly) on the nice list. 😉 Their little names even pop up on the list after they hop off the meter. So cute. There are other little fun surprises for the kids, like turning themselves into Elves in the Elf Academy, and getting a little Elf ID card. They were over the moon.
And when the big moment arrived to meet Santa, they marched up there like two professionals and just sat down for a little chat! Henry told Santa we would have milk and cookies for him, and asked him if he’d like us to leave him some walnuts too. Who is this kid?! Santa said definitely yes on the walnuts. Maggie asked for a dog. I mean, if these little moments don’t melt your heart, I don’t know what will. It’s just so special and sweet to see your babies taking part in this holiday tradition. I was grinning from ear to ear.
And now, my very best tip for visiting Santa — make a reservation. You avoid the huge line, and the reservation comes with a photo package, which, chances are, you want anyway if you’re visiting Santa. It’s so much smoother. If you’re local and planning on making a visit to Santa HQ, you can also bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate and help the mall meet their goal of donating 1,000 toys to families in need this Christmas. Such an awesome opportunity to teach kids about giving back, especially during the holidays.
And now, THE GIVEAWAY! Visit our Instagram feed to win a Premium Photo Package and Reservation at Vintage Faire Mall! I’m so excited to share this one — I can’t think of anything more festive than to give you and your kiddos a visit with Santa for the holidays. All rules for entry are on our IG feed.
Happy holidays, friends! xoxo
