week of gratitude

Doesn’t it feel so good to be thankful?  I literally have a physical reaction to gratitude — it’s kind of like a high.  When you start looking for things to be grateful for, it’s almost like you can’t stop, and suddenly life is just a little bit sparkly around the edges.  Try it.  I like to notice the small things.  Like hearing someone genuinely tell someone else to have a good day.  Or seeing a couple kiss goodbye or hello.  Or the way that it feels when you blow a really good bubble with your gum.

Last year, Lovely Indeed hosted a Week of Gratitude leading up to Thanksgiving, and this year we’re doing the same.  Sure, we’re grateful all year long, but how often do we talk about it?  I would absolutely love for you to share the things you’re thankful for, big and small.  And come back tomorrow and the next day to do the same.

Today, I’m thankful for my husband.  I know, it sounds cheesy and we’ve only been married for a few months.  But truly, there’s at least one moment every day where I have the distinct thought that he’s making my life better.  Usually more than one moment.  Usually lots.  I’m thankful for his earnest nature, his steadfast work ethic, the way he strives to make everything good,  and his ability to also be absolutely silly with me.  Does he drive me bonkers sometimes?  Sure.  But I kind of love that, too.  I’m so grateful to have stumbled upon such a wonderful man.

Now it’s your turn!  What are you thankful for today?  When you really just stop for a second and look around, what strikes you?  It could be something big, like family.  Or it could be something small, like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (I’m definitely grateful for those little guys).  Let’s have a gratitude comment-fest, and share our thankfulness with each other.  Here we go!  xoxo

  1. I have a hard time restraining myself from saying in my daily thanks on FB “I am thankful for Dave,” because like you, I have those moments every single day when I know that this love is life-expandingly wonderful. Even when he “drives me bonkers” 😉 Thank YOU (and Mr. Lovely!) for sharing your life, your beauty, your heart/soul with so many people. Lovely, indeed.

  2. I turned 28 this past weekend and took some time to think about this past year. I can’t believe at this time just last year, I was unemployed and anxiety ridden about my future. So many things have happened that I never thought possible! My heart feels so full and beyond grateful 🙂 Love this series!

  3. I am thankful everyday for having my family alive and in good health, and I’m thankful for the smiles people give me without sometimes even noting it, I am thankful to be alive and to have a whole unknown future to build, because I want to make it awesome.
I really like your blog, I discovered it last week-end 🙂
