Okay gang, who loves movie night?! Anybody out there have a standing movie night on the weekends? I’m just gonna put this out there: when Pitch Perfect 3 was in the theatre I went to see it with Ryan, which was cool, but I kind of wish I had gone with my main pitches, ya know? So now that it’s available on DVD and Blu-ray, I’m setting up a do-over and having a Pitches Night In! This movie night is all about cocktails, popcorn, nail polish, and no dudes allowed. I’ve been dying over these movies since the first one, and I’m so pumped that the Bellas are back for one last call. Word is that the DVD and Blu-ray also have lots of extras that weren’t in the theatre (like musical performances, extended scenes, and a gag reel! I. Love. Gag reels.). So in honor of all you awesome nerds who love a cappella as much as I do, here’s a love letter in the form of a cocktail recipe: The Aca-Spritzer Smash.

Ingredients

  • fresh strawberries
  • vodka
  • berry-flavored sparkling water
  • simple syrup
  • blueberries

In a rocks glass, muddle one whole strawberry. Fill the glass with ice. Pour in one ounce of vodka and a splash of simple syrup. Fill with the berry-flavored sparkling water and give a stir to incorporate all ingredients. Garnish with blueberries (you don’t have to skewer them like we did, you can just drop them right in the glass!) and add a cute straw. If you want to make the cocktails into mocktails, just leave out the vodka!

Serve these pretty little sips as your pitches walk in the door and I promise it’ll be a great start to your Pitches Night in! But just in case you’re a movie night overachiever, we’ve got a few more ideas for you…

Nail Polish Station Set up some Bellas-inspired nail polish shades in case your best pitches need to dress up their digits while you watch the movie.

Personal Movie Night Trays Grab a few trays and set them up for your gal pals! Add a cocktail and a personal popcorn stash to each tray so everybody can get comfortable without having to reach for the popcorn bowl.

Add Some Swag Bonus points for this one, big time. Create some t-shirts with fun phrases from Pitch Perfect 3 and let your guests snag their favorite. Just get some plain tees and iron-on letters and go to town.

Now get your movie night on! Not gonna lie, I’m totally that person who sings along. I just can’t HELP MYSELF! The dang songs are so catchy and they always have me missing my choir days (yeah, I said that). Have you seen it yet? I’d love to know your favorite song from the movie. Here’s a little trailer to refresh your memory:

Have a great weekend y’all, and cheers to your Pitches Night In! xoxo

Please drink responsibly, and only if you are 21 or older.
