Making Easter Rice Krispies Treats with Kids

Henry and I have been diving deep into the world of Rice Krispies Treats these days. It’s kind of a fun project to do with kids because you can’t mess it up, it’s super fast, and there’s lots of pouring.

You can put that kid in charge of pouring cups of Rice Krispies until his heart is full to bursting. And he’s absolutely certain that he’s “cooking.”

So we put our heads together and decided to make you guys some RKT’s (that’s Rice Krispies Treats, duh) for Easter, in case you need a project to do. And we alllll need projects to do.

Ingredients and Supplies

Below you’ll find all of the ingredients and supplies we used!

If you’d like to make your Easter Rice Krispies Treats into bunny pops like we did, be sure to grab some lollipop sticks as you’re shopping for supplies.

I love these wooden sticks because they’re a little more sturdy and also reusable, but you could also use the standard cardboard sticks as well.

Materials and Ingredients

How to Make Easter Rice Krispies Treats

Make Time: 30 Minutes

  1. Melt your butter in a pot. Once melted, add the bag of marshmallows and melt those as well, stirring frequently.
  2. Once the marshmallow mixture is smooth and melted, turn heat to low. Add 5-6 drops of neon pink food coloring and stir until the color is even.
  3. Pour in cereal and mix until covered with the melted marshmallow. Spread into the pan and smooth out the top with a spatula that has been sprayed with the cooking spray.
  4. Use the cookie cutter to cut out bunnies.
  5. Melt your white chocolate according to the instructions on the packaging. (You won’t need much; we used about 10 wafers total.) Spoon the melted chocolate into a small ziploc baggie.
  6. Snip just a bit of the tip off of one corner of the baggie, and pipe the white chocolate onto each bunny ear. Allow to cool and harden.
  7. If you like, turn them into pops by inserting a little candy stick into the bottom of each bunny.

Ideas to Make Your Easter Rice Krispies Treats Extra Special

These are so fun, and both of the kids thought it was such a treat to munch on them. Mags particularly loved that they’re pink.

Once I started styling them for the photos and used my favorite sprinkles, I realized that the bunnies would be extra cute with some fun sprinkles on top too.

We’ll have to try that next time. I think if you sprinkled as soon as you spread them in the pan they would stick nicely.

Have fun! Be sure to rate our recipe below if you try it out! xoxo
