the fourth of july

This Fourth of July turned out to be just about perfect, in a pretty unexpected way.  We all started out the day with an excellent brunch, thrown for us by some patrons of Florida Studio Theatre; they were kind enough to invite all of the Cowgirls (along with lots of significant others, who were in town for the holiday weekend!) to their home for a breakfast celebration.

After we were full and happy, we all toodled off, and Mr. Lovely and I decided to head to the Ritz for a quick dip in the pool.  Just after we got back, and just before we were planning on heading out to get a good spot for some fireworks, it started to rain.  And by rain, I mean downpour.  We thought our evening plans would have to be abandoned, but we waited it out with some buddies and, in true Florida fashion, the rain stopped and the sun came out in a couple of hours.  We met more friends by the harbor, and were in the perfect spot when the fireworks started up.  All in all, not too shabby.

And by the by, if you’re looking at the photos below and noticing that some of them are jazzed up a little bit, it’s because I’ve been playing with a new photo editing program on my computer!  It’s loads of fun, but I’m still learning the ins and outs of it.  So consider yourselves my guinea pigs.  I’ll repay you somehow.

Hope your Fourth was wonderful!  Much, much gratitude to the servicemen and women who sacrifice so greatly to serve our country.  Thank you all.  xoxo

  1. Looks and sounds like you had an amazing time. The pictures look amazing! What editing software are you using? I am looking for one…

    1. It’s Adobe Lightroom — it’s pretty cool, because you can store and organize all of your photos there, and edit them right within the program. Like iPhoto, but with much more advanced editing capacity. Check it out!

      1. Thanks Chelsea! I am totally going to check it out! I love your blog by the way and love that you collaborate with Cyd @ the sweetest occasion — it’s a great pairing!
