Ten Things // Goals

goals

Now I know I posted earlier this week about how I’d like my 2014 to look. I love doing that every year, and I feel like it helps keep my mind clear and focused on the way that I’d like to be living. But I also have a bunch of solid, tangible goals this year that I’d like to work toward, and I’m putting them out there for y’all to see. This one’s just a little more scary, because when I say it out loud to beautiful people like you then I’ll be held accountable. But I’m thinking that’s a good thing. So bombs away.

1. Get cast in another show.
2. Double Lovely Indeed’s readership numbers.
3. Get something published in an American magazine.
4. Stop leaving little messes all over my house.
5. Finish the few projects around home that I’ve been putting off for so long I forget they exist.
6. Learn to do our own quarterly taxes.
7. Remember to play the piano, uke, guitar, and sing forΒ fun, not just when I have something to rehearse for.
8. Take the stairs.
9. Build an app.
10. Work to improve my photography skills.

Okay, your turn. Say it so you have to stick to it! What are some of your goals for the new year? I’d love to hear ’em! xoxo

  1. Love this! What a great list of goals. I’d like to take one picture a week of me and my husband doing something we love. Such a fun way to document the year! πŸ™‚

  2. 1.) Hone back in on nutrition! Paleo 4 LIFE.
    2.) Build blog readership/Insta-followers
3.) Visit Stationery Show and open online stationery shop in Summer 2014
4.) Flip out and wonder what I was thinking

    1. Um, yeah. I DIG your cards, especially “Blank Card,” “Grassy Ass,” and “Happy as a Clam”! Snark in a fold-it-up, give-it-away form fits in to my Venn diagram. I’m so glad I read your comment and clicked on your name.

  3. I also want to build my readership and get featured on a larger blog or magazine! πŸ™‚ And I want to learn calligraphy, watercolor and french baking!

  4. Great list! Best of luck on your goals! Improving in photography is one of mine too. Some of mine are: experience/see something completely new every month and learn to garden (and hopefully end up with lots of pretty flowers to practice my photography on πŸ™‚ )

  5. Love it ! I think writing down resolutions helps us stick to it as well. My top would be:

-Pick up the phone more (I’m just not a phone person but love my family and friends around the world)
    -Reach 1,000 etsy sales
    -Sketch a lot more!

  6. 1) I’ve always wanted to play the uke, even more so since becoming a fan of Merrill Garbus of TuNe-YaRds. So, first step is to buy one. Got a brand to recommend?

    2) I’d like to climb at a new rock climbing spot this year with my climbing friends.

    3) Say good riddance to this pudge that’s reappeared around my waist. It’s like the Room of Requirement in Harry Potter except I wish I never found it.

    1. Definitely! I have 3 ukes, and they’re all a little different. My first one was a $10 tourist special from Hawaii. As long as it has 4 strings and the tuning pegs are sturdy, those little guys aren’t a bad place to start (you can probably find them in toy stores, etc.). For the next step up, I’d recommend a Kala. They’re simple and affordable but a pretty good quality. I took mine on a couple of tours and it did great with all the traveling. Good luck with that and your other goals — they’re awesome!

  7. I absolutely LOVE the goals you’ve laid out here, Chelsea, and I think it’s totally do-able to reach them. πŸ™‚

Two of mine for the new year that are crazy, absolutely bonkers scary to me right now: Run (and complete!) a full marathon. And get cast in some kind of show.

    Here’s to 2014!
