I have been jumping for joy lately that some of my favorite stores are carrying shorts in lengths that are comfortable for us folks who are not in the daisy duke fan club. I was pumped to see that Old Navy has so many awesome shorts in different lengths. So if you like living on the edge, go for the 3-inch styles. I’ll be rocking my 5-inchers and feeling great about myself. (They have even longer ones, too!)
On a recent trip to Old Navy I thought it would be fun to pick out some tee and shorts combos and see how differently I could style them. Because they had such a wide range of shorts, I chose a couple of vastly different ones and went to town.
The first combo is very laid-back-Cali. I love these Sweetheart cutoff shorts — so comfy. I’ve been running around in them lots so far. And I’m a sucker for anything with a map on it, so that California tee was a no-brainer. I paired it with my favorite TOMS and a little Marc Jacobs crossbody bag, and I was ready for an adventure. I could run around in this all day.
When I saw these printed shorts, I snapped them up immediately. The pattern is so cool! And I grabbed one of their super-soft vintage tees to go with it. When I got home I tested it out with an old tuxedo jacket from my closet and BAM — I’m calling it a summer tuxedo. I’ve always loved the way that shorts look with heels, too. Carry a little clutch with it (this one is the Kate Spade wicker clutch), and you can take this look straight to the theatre. The fancy theatre, y’all.
So whaddaya think? Do you have a favorite look? Or are you a shorts person at all? For a long time I avoided them in favor of dresses, but these are really making their way into my wardrobe as staples. Hope you try some out! xoxo
