Nursery Gallery Wall

Nursery Gallery Wall

Things in the house are coming together, and our latest excitement is over a gallery wall that we put together for the kiddo’s room. It’s funny. When you’re in a new house and your belongings are just living in piles, nailing a few things into the wall makes you feel beyond accomplished. Even if it’s just one wall in one room, it’s done and I’m pretty sure I’m superwoman because of it.

I’ve known since forever that I really wanted this photo by my incredible photographer pal Mary Costa to be a focal point in the nursery, because it’s just such a cool shot. I put off printing and framing it forever because isn’t getting things framed such a tedious thing to do? I never know where to go to get good prints in a large size, or how to mat it or which frame to pick and all that jazz. I remember my mom agonizing over that kind of stuff when I was little and not getting why it was so hard. But dudes. It’s hard.

I was lucky enough to partner with Framebridge, which you need to know if you don’t — it’s this brilliant online shop that can print and/or mat and frame your art in a jiffy at totally incredible prices. (Because that’s the other thing about framing. It costs an arm and a leg and your firstborn child.) It’s rad. You literally just upload or send in your art, choose a size, pick a mat and frame, and the end. When Mary’s photo arrived in the mail we just leaned it against the wall and gazed at it lovingly like a couple of dorks for a while because it looked so good all printed and framed. We chose something nice and simple, but they have a little bit of everything in their frame selection. I keep going back to the site and mocking up more photos just for fun.

So! I got all of the gallery wall pieces together and laid them out on the floor to kind of get an idea of how it was going to come together. And of course, when it went on the wall it bore only a vague resemblance to what I had on the floor. But you gotta give yourself a little creative license, right? Mr. Lovely was the muscle, and I was the artistic director on this particular project.

Yaaaaaay! I love it. I love that the little guy will get to look at that bright, happy, hippie VW van every day. And that we can pull down the uke and play some tunes together. It’s just so cheerful. And now, on to the next wall. Only a zillion more to go. And hey, I have a fun present for you! Now through October 31st, you can get $30 off a Large or Extra Large frame from Framebridge! Just enter code FRAME30 at checkout. And be sure to tell me what you’re framing — I’m nosy like that. xoxo
