Slow Down // 2

Practicing the art of slowing down

How’s the Slow Down going, friends? Wanna know what I did to slow down last week? After we put the kids to bed every night, I didn’t work. Usually we put them down and I pull out the computer for a while to catch up on something leftover from the day. But last week I stuck to my guns and just relaxed. And we didn’t plop down on the couch and turn the tv right on either — Ryan and I actually looked at each other and conversed and took a second to just be… people. It was awesome. And refreshing. On top of that, I broke out all of my favorite teas and fired up the kettle a few times to try to feel a little festive and holiday-ish, even though the temperatures in California have just finally started to dip. But it all felt so nice and it gave me a little space to breathe and enjoy.

If you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about with this Slow Down, check out my last post here. It’s just a little idea I had that I wanted to share with you guys, in case you find the holidays a little slammed and stressful like I do. I’m making a specific, focused effort to just take things a bit slower and enjoy, and inviting you all to do that with me.

So this weekend, what’s up for the Slow Down? It’s super simple: notice something beautiful and take a picture of it, just because you like it. Not because you want to share it on Instagram, not because your kid is doing something adorable and you’re scrambling to catch it. Just because you think it’s nice. And if you feel like it, come back and let me know what you took a picture of.

Hope you all have a beautiful weekend! xoxo
