Pinterest Party

Brace yourself, guys — I’m getting all fancy with my Pinterest boards lately.

Pinterest Party

I decided to do this experiment where I try to pin things all in one color palette for a short period of time. Have you ever tried that? It happened once by accident for me and I thought it looked so pretty when I looked at all of my pins together. So I tried it on purpose! Turns out, it’s a bit of a challenge.

Pinterest Party

It’s tricky for two reasons. First, you really have to scour the internet for inspiring things in the color palette that you’re working on. And second, if you see something else that you want to pin but isn’t in the color palette, what the heck do you do? I ended up pinning those things to a secret board for a while until my little experiment is over.

But anyway, if you go to see all my pins you’ll get the idea. You’ll also notice where it abruptly began, because the colors get all mixed again. I probably won’t do it forever, but right now it’s a really fun creative challenge! And it kind of makes me curious — have you ever manipulated your pinboards in a similar way? What do you think about when you pin and share an image? xoxo

  1. Love this idea! You already have a great pinterest account. So do you change all your boards to this style or just color coordinate new boards?

    1. Hi Nicole! I actually didn’t change up or add any new boards at all. I just pinned to my usual boards, whichever fit with the pin I was creating. But I only pinned things in one color group at a time. Kind of challenging! But really fun. 🙂

  2. Sometime I have an urge to pin lots of pictures with similar theme instead. There was once I was fascinated with whale and I pinned 30 to 40 pins on everything about whale. Another time were on topic “Red” and “Watercolour”. Usually I just pin whatever I like and admire my theme based pins in the specific board. My “Red” pin board is my favourite.

  3. Haha, now this really is strategic pining!! Funny how pinterest has become such a useful tool, must admit I’m rather addicted myself! I agree with belindq – some trend emerge unwittingly in my pinning and usually around a theme or project I have in mind! Colour is a good one, might try that in future!

    1. Yes! That’s what started my whole color experiment. I’d be pinning and not realize that I was accidentally pinning a theme. It happens a lot with the change of seasons for me — like I’ll get really excited about summer and look back to see I’ve only been pinning oceans and palm trees. 😉

  4. So pretty! When I first started using pinterest I wanted to make all my boards by color but then decided to do them by category instead so I can find things easier. I keep wanting to make color boards but I already have 77 boards and don’t want to go overboard. I also think it would be difficult to decide which board to put it in if I had categories and colors. I think it would be nice if there were sub folders and I could organize my images by category and then by color. Such a dilemma! 🙂
