pillow-a-day project: #1

In my old living room, I was using a kind of kooky combination of deep reds, chartreuse, and yellow, so all of the throw pillows that I use on the couch are currently red.  I’m over the red.  And pillows are expensive.  Can you see where I’m going with this?  You guessed it.  It’s DIY time!

We’re going with grey, black, and white throw pillows this time around, and I’m making ’em myself.  I unearthed from my collection a black one with a little white flower on it and a white one with some cute tufting, so two are already done.  That leaves me 4 more to do.  And that’s what’s going on for the rest of this week.  My goal is to upcycle and restyle things that I have around the house, so today’s pillow cover used to be this dress from Old Navy:

(Don’t you just love those yellow tights?!)  The bottom of the dress served as the majority of the cover and created a little ruffle, while I used the top half with the knit texture as an accent.  And here she is!  Pillow Numero Uno.

We’ve got something pretty cute cooking for Pillow Numero Dos, so come back tomorrow and check her out.  xoxo
