I love sharing food. If you ask me, it’s the best way to eat out, because if you share you get to taste more things! Everybody orders their fave, and everybody gets to sample it all. My new favorite place for sharing food is Lemonade. It’s a bright and cheery cafeteria-style spot, perfect for a quick bite or for sitting and relaxing with pals for a while.
Mr. Lovely and I recently stopped in and shared a plateful of their maketplace sides – gorgeous salads full of fresh ingredients. They call it “California comfort food,” and that’s about as perfect a description as I can think of. Definitely try our fave – avocado, cherry tomato, pine nuts, and lime. Excuse me? It was like grown-up guacamole and I never wanted it to stop. We also fought over who got the last bite of the chili roasted butternut squash. And a super cool thing is that at the counter while you’re ordering, they’ll let you do a little taste test if you can’t decide. (They also have a full menu of salads, soups, and hot dishes.)
The joint is called Lemonade, so clearly you have to try the beverage of choice. My dude got the Old Fashioned (classic, sweet, and tart), and I got Watermelon Rosemary. And I hereby proclaim that henceforth if my lemonade doesn’t have watermelon or rosemary in it, heads will roll.
And like any good eatery, there’s a glorious little case full of adorable looking sweets. Mr. Lovely opted for a Pink Lemonade cupcake (they’re only a buck!). I was trying to abstain, but I will say that I stole some frosting when he wasn’t looking and it was perfection.
If you’re in LA, you gotta try it! xoxo
