lensy lenses for your iphone

For my recent birthday, Mr. Lovely pulled a super-cool move and got me these awesome lenses for the camera on my iPhone.  We had seen some of our buddies with them recently at Alt Summit, and he knew I wanted them real bad.  Suffice it to say, they are the coolest things evah.

The lenses are from olloclip, and they’re a three-in-one combo of lenses that each do different things.  They slide right over the camera on your iPhone, and you flip them around or unscrew them according to which lens you’d like — there’s wide-angle, macro, and fisheye.  I thought I’d give you some comparison photos using each!  As you’re looking at them, keep in mind that the photos are all taken from the same distance and perspective; the only difference is putting the lenses on the iPhone.

Here’s the 34th Street Macy’s, without and with the wide-angle lens:

Some letterpress blocks, without and with the fisheye lens:

A tulip, without and with the macro lens:

Crazy, right?  Can’t wait to try these guys out a bit more — apparently they work with video as well.  The possibilities are endless!  Anybody out there with an iPhone and using or considering lenses?  xoxo

  1. I had never heard of those- how entirely cool!! I bet combined with instagram you could have the coolest pictures. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Oooh. Thanks for sharing! I have a set that I bought from photojojo ( They take great photos, but I’d say the primary disadvantage of them is that they attach magnetically to a metal ring around the phone’s lens that sticks directly to the phone. The problem is that you can’t fit a case over the phone with the metal ring on there. I put the metal ring on my case, which works fine for the wide angle but renders the macro useless. I don’t mind taking my cover off to use them, so this would be a great alternative!

  3. Some of my friends have these, and I’m so jelly! What a great gift! Can’t wait to see your future photos.
