housewarming party snippets

As promised, here are a few little peeks at our housewarming shindig!  During the party, I was having way too much fun to remember to pick up a camera, but I did remember to document some of the preparations.  We decided to go with a bit of a retro-homemaker theme, so Mr. Lovely whipped up this for our email invitations:

Since we were going old school, we decided that calories were not an object, and we made every retro appetizer we could think of:  pigs-in-a-blanket, deviled eggs, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, potato chips with onion dip, and Muddy Buddies — which Mr. Lovely calls Puppy Chow.  You can find that recipe here.

Mr. Lovely created a signature cocktail consisting of equal parts vodka, white grapejuice, and Fresca — lovingly dubbed over the course of the evening “Gresca,” which turned out to be quite a hit.

With the food and drink covered, we had to make sure to create some ambiance.  Obviously, this meant putting a YouTube video of a fireplace on loop, and having A Charlie Brown Christmas playing silently, underscored by swingin’ Christmas playlists created by yours truly.  It was a multimedia holiday bonanza!  xoxo

  1. Thank you for posting the ‘Puppy Chow’ recipe. I had been introduced to it as ‘Moose Poop,’ which of course is highly ridiculous, as we all know that moose do not defecate small rectangular chocolate chunks…. but whatever you call them, they are delicious!
