Happy Friday + Rom Coms

red-toes

Hey! It’s Friday! That’s kind of the best news I’ve heard all week. As usual, we’re full steam ahead over here — construction chaos, walls being demo’d, people coming and going, baby with a cold, ya know – the usual. But it wouldn’t be any fun if it was boring, right?! Right.

Anyway, I have some deep thoughts today about movies so gather ’round. My sister and I went to see Mother’s Day (on, ya know, Mother’s Day) and it was cute and all but also it was kind of really bad! Yeah, I laughed at some of it but it was so contrived and awkward and kind of halfway-acted by some of my (usually) favorite actors. And it pretty much just made me wish I was watching Love Actually again for the first time. Or You’ve Got Mail. Or When Harry Met Sally. But it made me realize that Hollywood kind of forgot how to make romantic comedies! Seriously! There are some truly amazing movies being made right now but ain’t none of them for chicks. I miss the 90’s, when every rom com was gold.

So what’s your fave? Like, could watch a million times, know every line, wish you were in it favorite romantic comedy? I’m fairly certain mine is You’ve Got Mail. Come on, it’s a masterpiece. That caviar is a garnish!

And on that note, enjoy your weekend, Lovelies! xoxo

  1. “You’ve Got Mail” is my absolute favorite, but there are occasional gems these days. Try the movie “About Time.” It came out in 2013 and is really special. Also “Me Before You” comes out in June and looks great.

  2. Pretty much all the ones you mentioned and seriously Love Actually is just SO GOOD. And totally agree some of the movies out now are just crap. How does Pretty Woman factor in? RomCom or just Chick Flick? OH! The Holiday! One of my all time faves!

  3. for me, its sixteen candles.
i saw it the other night and what i loved about it was that on the forefront, you saw what you were supposed to see but then there was always stuff going on in the background.
    i love that movie.
i will never not love that movie.

but i get you. i get what you mean. but honestly, i wouldnt have watched mothers day to begin with. i mean. look at julias hair. …..that alone.

another movie i loved was friends with benefits. with mila and justin. i usually HATE rewatching movies but that one i can watch always.
    total chick flick.

    1. Yes! LOVE When Harry Met Sally and I can’t believe I completely forgot about Notting Hill—SO good! ?

  4. I completely agree with you! The rom coms from the nineties/2000s were the best 🙂 As for the new ones, my favorite is Holiday 😀
