Happy Friday + DIY Bouncy Balls

It’s Friday and I was feeling wacky this week so we’re doing something a little crazy! You know those aisles and aisles of craft kits for kids at Michaels? I always wander up and down those aisles reliving my childhood and secretly wanting to buy a kit and go to town. Spirographs! Fashion Plates! Grow Your Own Rocks! It’s all so cool and it all reminds me of being like 8 years old and wanting to make everything under the sun. So I finally decided to just go with it and I got a kit that I never got to make growing up — the make-your-own bouncy ball kit! And I have to say, it was kind of ridiculous how excited I was making these things.

The kit is really self-explanatory, but basically you snap the little ball forms together, fill them with these magical little granules, and then submerge them in water. That’s it! I confess, it’s so easy I could have (and should have) waited so my 5 year old niece could do it with me but I got all carried away and made them myself. Oopsie.

The fun part is obviously choosing the colors, and you better believe I was there strategically planning it out. I’ve gotta say, it was completely fun just to sit down and do a kid-inspired craft just for the fun of it. And now our house is overrun with bouncy balls and Henry is completely enamored of them. And dudes — they bounce really well!

Next time you’re in Michaels, I dare you to stroll through the kids section and pick out something random to do, whether or not you have kids! Sky’s the limit — what would you pick? I know there are a bunch of you out there in the Fashion Plates club. Be honest. 😉 Or if that’s not your thing, check out some more grownup classes and try something new. Happy Friday! xoxo

  1. Love these! I’m always tempted to pick up one of those great kid kits I wish I’d had as a child. You’ve inspired me to pick one up next time I’m there!

  2. I kind of really want to try this! Haha, I can totally relate to going back to childhood with this, and having a blast doing it all by yourself. I think I will pin this!
