So my favorite sandwich shop in LA makes these amazing sandwiches with avocado spread. And for some reason it tastes like a million unicorns came down and sprinkled glitter all over your tastebuds. In a good way. I mean, I think it’s just avocado, but it’s like the best avocado you’ve ever had on a sandwich. So I wanted to make some.
True to fashion, whenever I want to be fancy I just add salt, pepper, and lime to anything. So that’s what this spread is! Literally, you cut up an avocado, sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper, and squeeze in a lime wedge. But what made me feel super cool making it was the fancy mortar and pestle that the folks at RedEnvelope recently sent over. We go through a lot of guacamole in our place, so this thing is going to see some action! And it’s so pretty I kind of want to leave it out on the counter.
So now that I have the mortar and pestle, I can mash up an avocado like nobody’s business! (You should have seen me before, trying to use the back of a spoon. Not cute.) I put this spread on my turkey sandwich for lunch yesterday and I won’t lie — it tasted professional. xoxo
