We did it! It’s Friday! The first work week of the year is over and we effing did it you guys. A bit about my week: I started out on Monday morning all ready to crush it and then around 11 am we found out my mom had been in a car accident. She was fine (thank goodness) but shaken, and the car was totaled. I’m crazy protective of my mom and after I heard the news I cycled through this really insane series of emotions — first fear that she was really going to be okay, then stress at getting her examined by a doctor, then a weird bout of anger at the driver who hit her car, and finally relief when I got to see her after the whole fiasco settled down. The rest of the week was spent researching and test driving new cars, which is a job in and of itself!
But I digress! Mom’s fine and it’s Friday and so we’re starting a new series that I am puuuuumped on! If you’ve been around a while you know that I. Love. Lists. My pal Moorea Seal recently released her book The 52 Lists Project and it’s gotten me all inspired to start listing again. There’s a different prompt every week and I thought it would be super fun to share my current list here on the first Friday of each month. Today’s is an interesting one: List your favorite characters from books, movies, etc.
I started jotting some things down and realized all of mine were women! Check it:
Leslie Knope (Parks and Recreation)
Kathleen Kelly (You’ve Got Mail)
Sally Bowles (Cabaret)
Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
Betty Haynes (White Christmas)
Jane Villanueva (Jane the Virgin)
Olive Ostrovsky (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee)
Amelie Poulain (Amelie)
I started looking at them to find similarities and kind of started seeing a pattern — they’re all imaginative, passionate, and kinda stubborn. They’re stick-to-their-guns kind of gals who know their own minds and believe 100% in what they stand for. And most of them are also a little bit crazy. Sooooo I’m thinking I accidentally picked women who I see myself in? And also who maybe I would like to emulate a little bit. Sometimes I think I could stand to listen to my gut a little more and trust myself in my decision making. Seeeeee how rad these lists are? They totally open up things in your brain that you didn’t even know you wanted to know. Thanks, Moorea. (And by the by, you can get her book right here and list along if you like!)
So who would be on your list? I love knowing this kind of stuff about you guys — share a few of your favorite characters in the comments! Do we have any in common? Happy weekend, y’all! xoxo
