My family is a family of farmers and outdoorsmen. My dad still farms the land that my grandfather farmed before him, my cousins wrangle cattle for a living, and everybody’s got an orchard or a field of something. So most of the photographs that I find from back in the day are of my family hanging out outside. Working on a car, driving a tractor, camping. And apparently on Easter of 1971 they all decided to pack up my dad’s 1935 Dodge truck and head to the hills for a family picnic.
I can’t get enough of these snapshots! I love the scarf tied over my great-aunt’s hair, and my great-grandma under a million blankets but being a trooper. But I think my favorite has to be my Aunt Sandy pulling up her socks on the bumper of the car! She’s gonna kill me when she sees that photo.
And that’s my mom down there in the last photo, sitting by the radio, looking cute as ever. That’s it for this installment of Family Photos! And I have to ask: are you guys as fascinated and intrigued by your old family photos? Have you looked at any recently? xoxo
What I love, is that she totally pulled the socks up to roll them down like the other leg. Fabulous!
Haha! Isn’t that hysterical?
I love old photos like these! Thanks for sharing!
Aren’t they fun? I don’t know if it’s just that it’s my family, or if I just find it cool in general, but I could look at old photos for hours!
aw, i love these! for some reason that old california license plate makes me more nostalgic than anything! 🙂
Aw, I know! California misses you. 🙂
