Dressing for Work

So I work from home. And sometimes that’s awesome, and sometimes it makes me crazy. Can I roll out of bed and stagger to my desk and start my day in my pajamas? Absolutely. But sometimes I just feel better if I take the time to get myself ready, head out into the world, and find a cozy place to sit and work.

I’m trying to mix up my schedule a bit more with regards to all of those things, and so I’ve started to get myself to a local coffee shop every now and again to get my work done. And I don’t necessarily have to get all gussied up, but I usually do have a kind of uniform — comfy, simple layers with some great jewelry. I feel like it’s kind of a gal’s secret weapon to dress up a really simple outfit with some killer accessories, because you can look really put-together but not sacrifice the comfies.

Recently, my go-to has been this chunky, awesome bracelet from Calypte Collection. I love the gunmetal chain with the big white stone, and even though it’s big it still feels light on my wrist. I’ve been stacking it with everything! It’s perfect for running around doing errands and looking a little glamorous, if I do say so myself. I’ve also been loving wearing it while I’m taking my work to the coffee shop. (It just came out in gold, and I might have to snap that one up too! Seriously. So good.)

Also, maybe this is weird, but I’ve been using the Calypte tassel bracelet as a keychain. I love it! You know I’m a fan of a tassel. It makes my keys easy to grab and my keys tell me they’re fans as well. Or they would if they could talk. I’m getting a little jealous, though, and might have to turn it into a bracelet again soon.

So what do you think? If you work from home, do you ever make the effort to get yourself together and work out in the world? I’d love to know!

Also, be sure to head over to the Calypte Collection Etsy shop and have a look around. It’s filled with all kinds of other gorgeous stuff! I’m thinking of raiding the place for holiday gifts to give to a few stylish pals. And bonus! If you do a little shopping at Calypte Collection, be sure to leave a note at checkout saying that you found the shop through Lovely Indeed. You’ll get free shipping in the U.S.! Okay, back to work! xoxo

NOT IF I GET THERE FIRST

  2. Oh my gosh, you look so adorable in these photos. And I love your jewels. I really need to get out of the house more often to work at a coffee shop, but that means I have to put on makeup. Ugh. Haha.

  3. You look adorable Chelsea! I really need to work on getting out of my PJs every once in a while, it really does do wonders. Ha!

  4. I might be a strange hybrid: I get dressed to work from home. It allows me to play dress up where I mix pieces I would never usually mix if people will actually see me. Sometimes, though, I happen on a combo I would wear out which I’d never thought of if I didn’t get out of my pjs. I do miss taking advantage of working from my favorite local bakery, though. Maybe if I had a new chunky bracelet to show off…

    1. I love that, Christine! I could use a little practice at remixing my closet. And yes — I think a new chunky bracelet might be the perfect little holiday gift to yourself. 😉

  5. This is so interesting. I just completed a week long wardrobe challenge that made me really take a look at my outfits since I work from my home office. I actually posted a review of my findings on my blog earlier this week. I just love reading your posts and I think your style is so cool.
