DIY Gift Idea

I love the idea of making a large batch of rose honey and packaging it up into little individual gifts.

A little jar of rose honey would be perfect to give to teachers, grandparents, or neighbors for holiday gifts.

You could also add a special sticker or label to the top and create lovely favors for a wedding or shower.

Supplies You’ll Need

Herbs. I love the idea of dried rose petals, but you can use any herb you love to infuse your honey! This would be lovely with rosemary, sage, cinnamon, or any of your favorites.

Honey. An unflavored honey works well for this recipe so that the honey really picks up the flavor of the herb.

Containers. I like to use a glass mason jar for this project, with a lid that screws on nice and tight. These have a sweet shape and would make great gifts.

  • Stirring stick

  3. Stir gently, combining.
  4. Seal tightly and allow to set in a cool dry place for 1-2 weeks.

How Long Will It Keep?

For the best quality, you can store your honey in a cool, dry place for up to 12 months.

After that time, it remains safe but the quality may not be as good. Honey can become cloudy, crystallized or solidified but this is not a safety concern.

The honey can be microwaved or heated in a pan of hot water to clarify or soften it.

Enjoy! xoxo

  1. This is so interesting! I would have never thought to do this. This year, my husband and I have grown obsessed with honey. Since I also have an extreme weakness for roses, I’ll have to try this out! Thank you!

  9. PLEASE do not use florist rose petals as they are saturated with pesticides! Far better to order dried rose petals from a trustworthy source such as Mountain Rose Herbs! Drying ones own rose petals & using them in teas or ointments you make yourself is a soothing, satisfying experience.
