DIY Leather Passport Holder
I’m so antsy, because next week we leave for our anniversary trip! We’ll be heading to NYC for a few days to visit friends, and then heading to Europe for a couple of weeks. While we’re still stateside, I thought I’d hit you with a chic little DIY for your next trip abroad — a DIY leather passport holder. My passport is a prized possession; I love to collect stamps from all over the world. So this little guy needed a cozy place to stay.
Materials
- leather
- fabric
- scissors
- sewing machine
- clips
Make Time: 20 minutes
Start by cutting a piece of leather and a piece of fabric, both measuring 11″ x 5 1/2″.
Layer them on top of one another, wrong sides facing. Place clips in the center to hold the pieces together. Then fold the outer edges in approximately 1 1/2″ inches and clip also. (I used clips rather than pins to avoid punching holes in the leather. You may want to experiment with the right materials for your particular textiles.)
Sew a straight stitch all four sides, approximately 1/4″ from the edge.
Insert your passport and fly away! This project comes together really quickly and would be an awesome bon voyage gift for someone who’s embarking on an adventure. And on that note, keep tuning in during the next few weeks for lots more travel-themed DIYs! xoxo
Such a cute DIY! This would make great gift, especially since the colors/fabric are so customizable 🙂

Hi, this is just lovely! Did you use some fray check on the fabric edges, or is it not necessary? Thanks
You could definitely use some if you like! I didn’t, and my bag is still in pretty good shape, but it can never hurt.
Admiring the time and effort you put into your blog and detailed information you present.
It’s awesome to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same
old rehashed information. Great read! I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
This is great! I’ve been looking for a passport holder and this one looks so easy to make.
My BEST friend just married her Best friend on Nov. 12. They are waiting until next Spring for their honeymoon, to Greece, and other islands in the area. This would make great gifts for them. Along with the luggage tags… I can Not wait to get started! I haven’t played with shrinkable plastic for ages. FUN!
