DIY Balloon Photo Backdrop

| |

How’s this for a party?! We wanted to do something fun and a little special with our pal Kelly’s balloons from her balloon shop, and I figured since she’s so festive a DIY photo backdrop would be in order! One of my goals with photo backdrops is always to make it super simple, so that you can put it together easily, and affordably. Our very first streamer photo backdrop is a perfect example. And this one is no different! It would be awesome at a birthday party or spring celebration, or even as a backdrop behind a dessert table or bar. Here’s how easy it is!

Materials

  • Make Life a Party balloon party pack (we used 4 of these and had some balloons left over to toss around)
  • Removable Glue Dots
  • optional: balloon pump
  • blank wall

Make Time: 1.5 Hours

Step 1: Start by inflating your balloons. I’d recommend a balloon pump for this, so you don’t pass out. We inflated 80 balloons with a balloon pump in about an hour.

Step 2: Start mounting the balloons on your wall! Place a removable Glue Dot on one side of the balloon, peel away the backing, and stick it to the wall. That simple!

Step 3: Keep sticking your balloons on until you’re happy. I wanted to cover the wall floor to ceiling. Just so you have a point of reference, we covered a space that was 7 feet wide and almost 8 feet high. That probably took about 70 balloons, and we had a few left over to float on the ground.

Now take your photos! We got out some confetti for the photo ops and had a good old time. Maggie woke up from her nap at just the right time for a little snapshot. It also happened to be the birthday of one of Henry’s little friends, so she came over and took some photos in front of it! We left it up for a good long while just to play around. The balloons actually lasted and stayed inflated forever — they’re awesome quality. And the party pack was great for getting a pretty variety of colors all in one package. If you have a celebration coming, definitely check out the Studio DIY balloon shop! xoxo

P.S. If you’re wondering, here’s where we got our pink letterboard!

    1. Hi Robin! Thanks for your question. Did you test the glue dots on your wall at all? Some paints/finishes/textures tend to be less adherent than others for the glue dots. If you find that the dots don’t work with your particular finish, you could try backrolling masking tape or painter’s tape instead of the glue dots. Otherwise, you could experiment with a larger size glue dot to cover more wall surface with each balloon. Thanks again!
