christmas at the lovelies’

First of all, let me just say that I think it’s adorable that some of you have started dubbing Ryan and me “The Lovelies!”  Definitely didn’t make that one up myself, so I can’t claim it.  I suppose it started with me trying to make Ryan vaguely anonymous by calling him “Mr. Lovely,” and grew from there.  But I think it’s the cutest!  So thanks for the nickname — I’m running with it.

Moving on!  I was so super inspired by the Girls with Glasses photo shoot in Rue Magazine recently (remember this post?) that I decided to refresh my Christmas decor this year!  In past years, we had a crazy holiday palette consisting of pink, orange, green, blue, and red.  This year, I kept the greens and blues, left out the pinks, oranges, and reds, and tossed in a little silver for good measure.  We found the perfect little balsam fir tree from some tree vendors on our block  — it’s a little scraggly, apparently because it’s half-wild, which the woman at the tree stand made sure to tell us multiple times.   I sort of liked that it was half-wild.  It’s got personality.

So we got the tree, we got the decorations, we put it all together, and BAM!  Kitschy-fab Christmas has landed at the Lovelies’.   (Did you notice that I ran out of vases, so I used a cocktail shaker?)  Oh, and our tree topper is a peacock.

We’re hosting a little holiday shindig/housewarming fiesta tonight, so I’ve gotta go get cracking on the preparations (if you’re in NYC, I fully expect you to stop by)!  But in the meantime, don’t forget to enter this week’s giveaway for a t-shirt from The Wedding Chicks — it’s totally adorable.  Have a fantastic weekend, lovelies!  xoxo
