anni – moon

I think I made up a word and it’s anni-moon. Probably it already exists and I think I’m brilliant for no good reason, but that’s okay with me. Anyway! I made up this word on our honeymoon last year, when Mr. Lovely and I decided that we wanted to take a trip for every anniversary. So it’s like a combo anniversary/repeat honeymoon situation. Ya know, to keep the fun happening every year. That way, big or small, we always get to be planning for and looking forward to a little bit of travel! We have a jar set aside and we stuff some dough in there whenever we can afford it, so we don’t have to be worried about the money part of things either (because travel can get expensive!).

So this first year, we decided to do it road trip style to a place I’ve never been before — the Grand Canyon. I can’t believe I’ve never seen it! We’re heading out today and stopping in Vegas for a little fun on the way there and back. We’ll have some regularly scheduled posts while I’m gone, and I’ll be sure to document and share our trip with you when we return.

So what do you do for your anniversary? Married or not, you gotta celebrate! I’d love to hear any fun festivities or traditions that you might have with your honey. xoxo

  1. we love a little weekend away. this year we spent it in san fran, doing all the touristy stuff, which i honestly had never done before! usually it’s all day trips and business, and it was super nice to stay and enjoy <3

  2. Fun!! Have a great time! We try to take a trip or at least do some sort of “experience” together rather than just gifting each other something. Last year it was a bike ride + dinner on the beach, next year were hoping for a Hawaii trip!

  3. Have fun at the Grand Canyon — it really is a beautiful sight. I’m from Arizona (and still live there) and my family and I take a trip there every five years or so. It is breathtaking. 🙂

  4. Hope you two have a great time! Eric and I had a “mini-moon”. We’re still living apart until he finishes school back in HI & right before the wedding but he came out for a visit and we drove up to Sedona, Arizona. (Beautiful red rock. Google image it!)

  5. So much fun! I have never been to the Grand Canyon. My husband and I will be going to Denver, Co for our 1 year anniversary. Both of have never been there so it will be awesome. I love ANNI-Moons! hahaha

  6. OMGsh…my husband and I are celebrating our 1-year anniversary. I too thought I was the first to come up with this term ‘Anni-moon’ until I googled it. It doesn’t matter, I’m just glad to see other people are making time to invest in their marriage. This is both confirming and comforting for me to continue with this as a yearly tradition. Thanks for sharing.
