A Studio Update // Reflecting Our New Vision

I have to say, I’m truly basking in this slow discovery of where Lovely Indeed is headed this year. We have some big, dreamy, beautiful goals and I’m making measured steps toward them every day. I am so revitalized by the thought of serving you guys some really juicy, helpful, relatable, actionable content in the near future, and I love the thought that we’re going to be able to connect on a more human level. Wait ‘til you see this.

In the meantime, I have been feeling my whole life making a slow shift in a direction that feels more intentional and purposeful. Dare I say essentialist?! I’ve always been a girl who’s a bit extra, but right now what is really speaking to me is paring down to the things that are truly essential and letting the rest be set aside for a while. And I mean everywhere — in my head, in my closet, with my workflow, and in our home space.

Recently I was working at my desk and turned around to look at the rest of the studio and realized it didn’t feel like me any more. Don’t get me wrong, it’s lovely in there. But the way that we set it up initially just doesn’t give us what we need at this point. I had always wanted a sitting area there to take a break from desk life, or to have meetings, or to sit and brainstorm. And the pieces that I had originally put there just weren’t working. Enter Article.

If there was ever a furniture brand that was a personification of what’s inside my head and heart, Article is it. Insanely beautiful, quality pieces at price points that actually attainable. No salesmen hounding you on a showroom floor. Just a beautiful aesthetic that feels like it belongs in your home. We actually bought one of their credenzas for the living room during the remodel and it has been one of our favorite things. (We use it to hide all of the kids’ toys.) Not to mention that the max you’ll ever pay for shipping with them is $49, which is a total steal for furniture (and if you have something shipped and it doesn’t work out, they’ll come pick it up within thirty days and refund the furniture, less the shipping fee). So when they reached out to see if we had any spaces that needed refreshing I felt like it was kismet.

I had been feeling like I wanted to have the studio vibe grow up a little bit, and a more muted couch (not to mention more comfy) had been on my mind. I still wanted something that was a statement piece, but just a little more refined. The Mirage sofa in blush pink was exactly what was in my head! The silhouette is so good and the shade of pink is just right. It’s been great for taking a break from my desk and getting a change of scenery while I work on my laptop. We really didn’t end up having many meetings in the studio, so I focused on rebuilding the area to be super comfy and relaxing. It ended up just right.

After an incident where Henry cut his head open on our faux marble coffee table in the studio, I had also been wanting to get a softer alternative to have there. The Zuni pouf is so fun but still feels grownup, and provides a great space to set a laptop or mini work area. I set a woven bowl there that keeps my laptop and notepads organized when I’m not using them. We also tossed that oversized sheepskin throw in the mix to be comfy — sometimes it’s on the floor and sometimes it’s on the sofa. Coco loves to curl up in it for a little afternoon snooze.

Not to sound all woo-woo but I am feeling more and more like my physical surroundings are such an influence on my thoughts and productivity. And since we did this refresh it almost feels like I have more headspace to be creative and take Lovely Indeed in the direction that I’ve been envisioning.

Do you ever feel that way? Sometimes it’s as simple as having a clean house before you’re able to really concentrate on a task, or clearing out your inbox to be able to think. A huge thank-you to Article for helping to send us in the right direction! And stay tuned for an update in one more area of our house — can you guess where it is? Xoxo

  1. Love love love this! We are going through the same feelings! We feel like our living room just isn’t us anymore. We are toying with paint color, but the couch is our main point of discussion. Thank you for introducing us to Article!! I cannot believe all the options we like, but that blush pink does look pretty perfect! 😉

  2. I really like the interior of your house . It is in super positive colors, you have a really productive working day! I believe that yellow and pink colors actively contribute to the productive thinking and processing of any information! Recently, my husband and I were doing repairs and I just insisted on yellow and pink patterns. He reluctantly, but agreed, haha. We had an empty place on the wall with a sofa and I thought for a very long time what picture to hang there. Or a photo (but you are lucky, you have windows there!) My husband said that we have plenty of photos in the bedroom. A few days ago I ordered a multi panel wall art from a Texelprintstore and today my husband will go pick up the order. We agreed that our living room should be romantic! Therefore, they chose only in yellow-pink colors! I did not know that my husband likes the pink color so much 🙂
